4-2 and again was expected. After game 1, Virginia put us right back in place.
On a even better note: Looks like for hitters I have 3 of the top 5 hitting prospects now
Samuel is really pushing me now. Think you boys might see him this summer in big leagues. Loving the minor league progress across the board. Way to go coaches, sucking for years finally starting to pay off.
Other than Joe Macknight, nobody is hitting right now in Mississippi. We get Harcourt off the DL so he'll hopefully provide a little bit of a boost. Still, too many guys hitting in the low .200s right now. Once guys like Dodson, Rojas, and Calderon get going this team will be much better.
The young guys in the pen are developing well- Reyes's numbers are not so good but he's doing better and Ching has been lights out. Zach Murray and Curt Sheperd are carrying over their impressive success from their rookie year.
Dam, might wanna check out the April 30th game between us and Los Lunas. Carillo pitches a 10 inning no hitter striking out 14 but gets a no decision because of an unearned run. Wetton goes yard bottom of the ninth to force extras and we in in the 13th. Carillo does not get credit for a no hitter but posts a 103 game score.

Wow! That is one of the highest game scores I remember seeing.
Baltimore Bulldogs (12-12; 3rd) 1-2 v IND: W 4-3, L 1-5, L 4-5 1-2 a SYC: L 2-3, L 2-6, W 8-4
I'm not sure why we can't hit when it counts. We are #1 in the IL in batting average but when I watch the games, we don't get those hits when there are runners are on base. Looks like I'm going to have to shuffle the lineup a bit.
The Good
-Ivan Garcia is finally becoming the player, I knew he could be. High OBP, finally hitting for average, a threat on the paths, and defensive rock, he's quickly becoming a Baltimore favorite. He had a good week, going 8/18 with 7 walks.
-Our young bullpen has been outstanding so far. We have the 3rd best bullpen ERA in the IL, led by former Guide, Eddie Taylor. Taylor had a rough year in '89, his first year in Baltimore, but has bounced back and been a great leader to the young bullpen. Tad Shelton, is just 26 and he the next oldest player (excluding Nathan) on the pitching staff.
The Bad
-You know how players just get on your shit list? Well Pat Washington is on mine. Consistently inconsistent, he gets on my nerves more than any other player I've ever had on this team. 4 hits in 23 AB is not going to cut it for a player of his caliber.
-The continued poor play of Washington, coupled with another Noah George injury, will open an opportunity for Shawn Newsome. Washington has continued to struggle against right-handed pitchers, so Newsome will see a few games over the next two weeks.
The Minors
-I am not sure how bouncing a player up and down from AAA to the BLB and back, effects their play, however, I am strongly considering a move for Marlon Todd back to the BLB. Since being demoted, he has hit .373/.439/.549 for the Admirals. With Alexander having his troubles in the league right now, it may not be long before Todd is back in Baltimore.
Pat Washington has to watch out because, not only is Newsome and Castor doing well in AAA, Ismael Reyes is finally starting to hit well in Orlando. As our first round pick in '88(which was an auto pick, I had actually planned on selecting Ty Billings), Reyes seemed a bit underwhelming his first two years. Last week, Reyes went 10/22 with 2 doubles and triple. With his performance, Reyes will likely be promoted to Camden after the influx of draftees.
What’s Next
We had a pretty poor showing last week and I also had my schedule wrong. Although we did play Indy last week, I stated that we faced California but we actually head to California this week, following a three-game visit to Denver.
