Yeah, not sure what happened or why. But I'll take it.

      Washington Bats (13-12; 2nd)
      3-0 vs. Hartford: W 8-0, W 9-1, W 7-4
      0-3 @ Maine: L 7-8, L 10-11, L 5-6

Ugh. A dominate sweep of the Whalers is countered by three one-run losses to the Champs. Of course, two of them in walk-off fashion.

      The Good
-If Miguel Angel Padilla can stay healthy, he might break some BLB records. This week, the 24-year-old went 7/23 with four HRs, two Doubles, scored eight runs and knocked in 17 RBI.

-Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? R.A. Grounds continues to get better with age. After a good week at the plate, Grounds is now hitting .320 with an .837 OPS on the season. His career highs are .287 and .790.

      The Bad
-Looks like injuries might derail my season yet once again! This time, the early season bug hit Roger Simonds. My superstar closer who just re-signed to a new deal, is out four months. The auditions for closer start now.

      Next
Three at Pittsburgh, then four at home against Morgantown. This is a great opportunity. I bet I falter. 3-4 sim.

I haven't had much luck trading for DL mid-30 closers...

            Philly Freedom (21-5; 1st)
            3-0 vs Denver: W: 7-6, W: 10-4, W: 3-2
            1-2 @ Dallas: L: 3-9, L: 4-5, W: 5-2,

A 4-2 sim and another 3 game sweep, we’ll take it. We suffered our first series loss by dropping 2 of 3 at Dallas. Oh well, you can’t win them all.

            The Good

            - Pat Gibson continues to produce. .364 | .417 | .773 with 2 HR and 4 RBI.

            - O.T. managed to have a higher batting average than OBP this week (.360 | .346 | .560) and drove in 7 runs.

            - Chad Mullen successfully returned to the CL role, picking up 2 saves and a W in 3 games. Of course now he wants to be in the starting rotation. When he was in the rotation he wanted to be the closer. He’s not upset about anything yet, but we’ll keep our eye on that.

            The Bad

            - Overall Joe Arredondo has been good this year, but when he has been bad, he’s been really bad. 2.3 IP, 6 ER and a 23.14 ERA this week.

            What’s Next

Three at Indy and then a return to the IL for 4 vs. division-mate Batavia. We have to see how we bounce back from our first series defeat of the season.

You really only lost Borkholder in that deal and as you said then, he probably wouldn't have fit on your roster. He would have been traded either way.

Yes, but my return was negative. Merlin was a complete bust in D.C.

That's true. I still don't know what happened to the guy. He was having one of his best seasons ever until he was moved.

He probably did not like being a set-up man.

Not a closer, but the Pateshall deal turned out alright for you...same age (34) and went from DL to IL.

                      That's a very good point.

I don't need another lefty, however.
