  • I thought if we missed our pick that it would pick from our list? Does it just auto draft in general? Yay I got another catcher!

I haven't drafted a starting pitcher this high since I drafted Jerry Ferrell in the 2nd round a few years back. He certainly doesn't have the upside of a frontline pitcher but he can hopefully develop into a back of the rotation workhorse eventually. There's no rush since I have my rotation locked up for the next few years.
Dang, I was hoping he'd slip to me in the bottom of the third!

I loved the idea of having a lefty with plus plus control as a number 5 guy down the line. Great pick!

          • 3.18 - SP Kenji Sakuragi - Prospect from Japan. 21. My scout says 5-5-5. Really needs to develop that curveball if he wants to make it.

4.7 - MR Leo Mena - Prospect from Costa Rica. 21. My scout says 5-7-4. Love his groundball and stamina.

Mine too. I think Davenport's pick this round was also pretty good. I was on auto and forgot to turn it off. I was going to move him up.

                • 5.12 - SS Alejandro Arriaga Only 17 years old. Puerto Rican. My scout has him rated pretty well and he looks to be a good defender.

5.18 - SP Shi-kai Wu Chinese. I'm going on a huge international run. My scout doesn't think he has BLB potential but he has great control and a very high endurance rating. Maybe he can develop into a #5 innings eater.

Its funny, most years my scout loves international players. This year, I've only selected one so far.

                        AND....no internationals we like.

My scout just doesn't have the love for them this year. I may have a couple in the last two rounds, but that's about it.

                        • Nice pick by Baltimore. He was on my list.

My scout doesn't think he has BLB potential but Julián Jiménez is an interesting prospect. Only played three varsity games as a sophomore, didn't suit up as a junior and then in his senior year of high school he was won of the best hitters in the country for 25 games. Small sample size but maybe a late bloomer?

I saw that as well. OSA loved him, but I'm worried about his lack of passion for the game. Doesn't seem like anything motivates him, not winning, not money, and no work ethic. We'll see what he becomes, if anything.

Pretty excited to nab Wallace, he had been on my board for a number of rounds. My scout doesn't think he has a BLB bat but thinks he is All-World with his glove. He won the Glove Wizard award for College SS in '89 and my scout has his ratings as 8-8-8-7.

                              • 6.19 - MR Jerry Potter

Potter was the last pick I was really looking forward to drafting. He throws hard 93-95, and he has three legit pitches. He also has a 7 for work ethic so I'm hopeful he can develop fast, or, pick up a rating point along the way. My scout also has him as a 3 endurance... so I'll give him a look as a starter early on in his minor league career.

Right now my scout and OSA has him at a potential of 6-4-3. If he can develop to a 6-4-4, he might have his uses as a 6th or 7th starter in the future.
