      • Torres was on my radar. Kinda surprised his GB% is only 52% with a good sinker as his out pitch, but whatever. My scout was lukewarm on him, but he was among my top choices in a bad SP class.

I was also wondering where Matte would go. Definitely a gamble, but I didn't like his skillset substantially less than most of the other guys on the board, so I don't see the harm in taking him at the end of the first round.

I also like the Garcia pick, though has he zero pop and doesn't run well. Hopefully he can develop some defensive skills at a position other than 3B because a slap hitter is kind of a waste there, imho.

He wouldn't have made it to you.

BTW, I'm off auto while I wait until my pick come in here. I'm tossing two guys around (yeah, thats right) and I need to see where we stand after Pawtucket's pick.

              • Torres was my second best player left when I went with Zhang. I think he'll be a very solid #3/#4 down the line.

I think that's all you can ask for from a first round pick... or any pick, to turn into a productive major leaguer somewhere in the future..

                • Really like the Pat Powell pick. He was above Torres in my SP rankings.

Same here. In a draft short on true SP, he was probably 3rd or 4th on my list.

                    • We're getting to the point where there are some guys left that leave you scratching your head wondering why they are still there. They aren't what your scout thinks they are, but exactly how far off is he? Some really tempting gambles out there.

Please. No reason to rush. Obviously we all have our allotted time on the clock. It's no worry when someone is actively using their time to make the best pick they can. It only gets frustrating when the person on the clock is nowhere to be found. Even then, we get over it.

Edit: I like Ferris by the way, but my top player left went right after that. Ivan Reyes = mancrush.

Nah, you didn't rush me at all.

In fact I'm usually at work at this time. I took today off to help get things ready for the wedding this weekend. I think my draft list is definitely ready for the wedding. But just in case, I'll be sticking around to make sure there aren't any last minute changes that need to be made.
