  • PICK ANALYSIS:

Batavia Muckdogs select Al Hamilton (RF) -Maine West High School (1.9)

    OSA Current: 2-2-2-2-2
    OSA Potential: 6-4-6-7-8

    What We Know:
    - 1.391 Career OBS
    - 1989 HS Outstanding Hitter
    - 20 career K's in 426 PA's

    What We Like:
    - On-base machine with a nice splash of power
    - Legit lefty stick
    - Above average speed and defense potential

    What We Fear:
    - Currently injured, so we have no sample size since going down
    - HS players can be crapshoots
    - Never underestimate the "Bustavia" factor
    What We Think:

If he hits his potential, he's a poor man's Mel Woodbury at the plate. Doesn't have the same speed or defense as 'Doorbell' but is no slouch. Batavia has had bad luck with prospects, but still are widely considered one of the best Ownership groups in the BLB. With patience, they could have a Superstar on their hands.
    The Great One!

    To many rings to count...

          • So my reactionary thoughts to the pace of this draft.

Last year's went by very fast and people were not too happy with the available players.

This year is going slower and people are mostly happy with the picks and the quality of the draft.

            I think that makes sense.

              • Escamilla was high on my board as well. Very impressive college career.

I agree with Clay in that this is how we envisioned the draft when we implemented feeder leagues. Having the history makes things a lot more fun IMO. The risks now are selecting international players without a statistical history and high school age players (or underdeveloped college) that have good potential but may never reach it. As opposed to before feeder leagues when the draft was a complete crap shoot.

It does but I believe it emails you every pick as opposed to just your pick. It's disabled right now.

And... you're welcome... we need a BLB Wiki sub-page that features just my comedic contributions.

                        • I think the best way to explain guys putting hyped stats up in HS or College is that their ratings/performance has peaked. How to tell that though is part of the mysterious BLB draft ride.
