Very impressive! Also, I think he'll be a top notch fielder as well.

Definitely see his floor as that of Ivan Garcia of Baltimore, OBP machine and a great defender. But he's also got a shot to have great pop as well.

Was my second favorite player behind Coates in the entire draft.
I've been burned going against the grain before, but I don't see him hitting for an average over .250-.260. I'm thinking, offensively, he's more of a Larry Headington type, with more walks.

I don't see his "floor" as Garcia. Once he gets on base, he's not a threat to run the paths. More like his picture frame level.

As far as i know, he's still out of commission. He hasn't posted in the PCBL in about a week. Maybe Matt or Gyro can shed a bit more light, though.

Los Alamos exported a week ago and has been on the board. If he hits the time limit he'll go on AUTO.

I'm pretty OK with all of the picks so far. I think 1990 is going to be looked back on as the year that the BLB went really International. There's some talent coming from overseas.

FYI about the defensive ratings discussion. From the manual.

                  Position Ratings
Each player also receives a numeric rating at any position they are qualified to play. This rating is a measure of a player's overall defensive ability at a given position. Individual ratings exist for each defensive position. Players can have ratings at one or more positions. Players with higher position ratings are better overall defensively. Position ratings aren't truly distinct ratings. They are more of a composite number based on a combination of the player's defensive skills (arm, error, range) and his experience at the position.

So, it stands to reason a guy with all 8's in skill (arm, range, error) but only a 2 at a position would still be a solid fielder at the said position. Right?

                      Morgantown made the right choice.

                      That is all.

Yea. I take it from that description that the only thing missing is experience. At 18, I think that's fair.

I'm guessing that at this point he needs a LOT of experience. At this point it looks like he has ozzie smith like talent, but will that translate into actual results remains to be seen. But from what I read if you're a 2...you're a 2 doesn't matter how good your other tools are. With seasoning though he could be 7-8 in everything IF.

I just get so optimistic come draft day...and then I'm normally let down.
