Washington Bats select Don Bolton (SP) - Rice University (1.18)

    OSA Current: 4-4-2
    OSA Potential: 5-5-4

    What We Know:
    - 14.2 K/9
    - 101 MPH Fastball
    - 29 homeruns, 29 games

    What We Like:
    - Doesn't walk a lot of batters
    - Experienced and developed
    - Above average stamina potential

    What We Fear:
    - He may never develop a third pitch
    - My scout's opinion has declined since '88
    - Mediocre personality (leader, intelligence, work ethic)

    What We Think:

If can develop a third pitch, he is easily the best starting pitcher in the draft besides Coates. If he doesn't develop a third pitch, he is a right-handed Joe Negron. At the very least should be a very interesting prospect to watch develop.
Really? I say I'm going to do these throughout the draft and you steal it from me? This is why I can't have nice things.

    • It cost me an arm, a leg, and my innocence, but Anton Rivera is worth every penny.

      • A lot of people on Draft Lists coming up, so after the Syracuse pick we should jump a little quickly.

          • Tell your scout to get back to me in 1995 when Rivera hits 40 home runs.

I think he's got also got a minor in psychology too if you ever feel like you need to talk.

                • Took SP Alex Torres. I think he'll be pretty good. Safe pick compared to the guy I debated who my scout thinks will be an absolute stud, but I don't know if I trust my scout on that kinda guy.

He's not in my top 100 and he's behind at least 2 guys named DH Sandwich Round. I'm a little worried about my scout . . . or yours.

                    • Went with Canadian RF Tim Matte. He was the top OF left on my board. A bit of a gamble but I really wanted an OF with my 1st round pick and there wasn't anybody else left who I really loved.

                      • Wasn't on my radar either, however, on the other hand I think Wilmington has had two great picks so far with Agulilar and Mendoza. Our scouts have similar minds.

I actually debated him at 1.17. Not a feeder league guy so I held off, but almost pulled the trigger.

                          • Love Nesty Garcia to Los Lunas. Doesn't have the power profile of a 3B and doesn't look like he can play 2B unless he grows a bit on his fielding ratings (double play), but he looks like he should be able to hit all day long.
