      Philly Freedom (6-1; 1st)
      2-1 @ Los Alamos: W: 13-3, L: 4-7, W: 7-5
      4-0 @ Morgantown: W: 4-2, W: 4-3, W: 9-4, W: 5-4

Picking up where we left off last year, having success on the road. A great way to open the new decade. We normally start out very slowly offensively, but that wasn’t really the case this first week. 46 runs in 7 games. I’m no math whiz, but that’s like 6.5+ runs per game. Great start.

      The Good

      - This just in: Geoff Scott is good at baseball. He also picked right up where he left off last season: .357 | .514 | .750 | 1.264.

      - O.T. drove in 11 runs in the first 7 games along with a line of .370 | .485 | .593 | 1.077. We’re giving him more responsibility offensively this year and if he responds he’s going to put up some nice run production numbers.

      - As a team we posted an OBP of .395

      - Ben Irvin is off to a hot start 2 GS | 1 W | 12.1 IP | 2 ER | 14 K | 2 BB

      The Bad

      - We knew coming into the year that we’d have to keep a close eye on Don McNeill in the CL role. He’s probably not ready, but he “survived” his 1st week. He picked up a win and 2 saves (1 BS) and posted an ERA of 2.25, but he also posted a WHIP of 2.50. Too many guys on base for that role. He’ll be on a leash all year, but again we knew that.

      - Joe Arredondo got torched in his 1 start. It’s only 1 start, but we need him to be solid at the top of the rotation.

      What’s Next

7 more games this week before a day off. 3 vs. Wilmington and 4 @ Carolina. After 2 weeks of the season we will have played 13.5%+ of our regular season road games for the year.

Don't know if you noticed, but Scott jumped Gremades and Woodbury to take the #1 spot for Batters on the Top Players list. It's the first time Woodbury hasn't been #1 in a few seasons. Scott is scary good and still young as hell. I look forward to you trading him to me some day.

Geoff Scott is the best player in the league. I think I told that to Brad last year on PM. Damn you Raul Esquivels fractured skull!

Didn't you draft Woodbury before the Scouts were on?

Not sure. I thought we played with scouts in the first year.

It's funny, I was just looking through stats a week or so ago and thought... while I think Harry Keppel is still going to be a Legend, I'm not sure Everardo Gremades doesn't retire with better all-around numbers... then thought... not that it matters because Geoff Scott may be better than both of them.

I don't see that happening. Keppell had a few years in there where he was the best player in baseball, year after year after year.

                            RBI: 1349 vs. 1040
                            HR: 348 vs. 222
                            H: 2324 vs. 1951

Yes, Gremades will end up with the better average and OPS, plus his numbers the past few years have been better than Keppel's. But, from 78-84, Keppell was a beast. Dude hit .369 one year!

Scott won't ring up the hit totals that some other guys will either. He walks too much.
