I remember Scott vividly on draft day. I, fortunately or unfortunately, was coming off the '83 title season and drafted 24th overall. I took MR Chad Williams. After a lightouts rookie campaign in '86, 2.95 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 85 IP, 9-2, 2 saves, 72 Ks, I think he actually got some ROY votes, he progressively got worse and worse. Retired in '90.
I'm a little surprised by how good Scott has become. I wrote a mock draft for 1984 (and correctly had Scott going #17 to Philadelphia). I saw him as a very good contact hitter and good defensively, but my scouts certainly didn't see this kind of power coming. Unfortunately I picked 19th and ended up with Jed Lewis who has been injured and is probably a career minor leaguer.

I don't remember us having scouts on for the first year draft (1978). We certainly still had the overall ratings being shown (Woodbury was the only 80 potential listed).

Kellum would have set BLB records that we may never see broken if given the chance to play during his athletic prime.
No... Kellum is the only BLB Hall of Famer. However, his incomplete resume takes him out of the conversation of guys that we truly saw their entire career (which is what I'm talking about). Kellum is a legend no doubt... but his history starts way before the BLB.
