  • SIM COMPLETE - 1989 - Free Agency 3 (Off Season 6)

    Next SIM: Friday

    ***

    Notes:
    - Watch the DFA's... two teams had recent signees sitting out there that I had to move.

    - All teams that got AUTO CASH updates had them applied this SIM. Basically it's CASH earned that has to be automatically applied to teams in the RED.

Well I missed on pretty much every target I was going after.

And now suddenly I'll be allowed to spend $16 million, when I only had $7 million last sim. Don't ask me how this stuff works but that would have been nice a couple days ago.

If your team is operating in the RED, any bonus money that you earn (awards, all stars, articles) does not go into CASH reserve, it has to first be applied to your negative Cash. So teams with negative CASH that earned money got it applied tonight. Normally it will happen earlier in the off-season, but we had an issue with the utility.

                      You forgot to capitalize cash.

That one was a proper noun.... it's actually negative Johnny Cash.

I ended up extending 1 year offers to Pateshall and Gugz as replacements for Herrera. Worth a flier... will live without. I'll just wait for the inevitable Batavia fire sale. ;)

Don't remember making that offer to Winchel but we'll take it.

Our rotation is shaping up once again. Unfortunately due to the owner placing limitations on us, we were only allowed to offer 1 year deals.

Matt, you are officially #1 on my GM-of-the-year Power Rankings as of today. Congratulations sir.

Batavia Muckdogs: Signed free agent SP C. Pateshall to a 2-year contract worth a total of $15,600,000.

                              Gugs got $9.8
                              Winchel got $6.6
                              Nathan got $19/3
                              Donato got $66/3

Pateshall will not only have a better VORP/salary season than any of those guys but I might even go as far to say he will have the best season of the group. Yes, that includes California's Donato "Pizza" Guardamagni.

Maybe I'm biased but had I known he was going to come that cheap I would have changed my free-agent focus. I offered much more than that over three with a mutual option, and he said he would rather test the Free-Agent waters....

                              ...I hope you're happy "Pitbull".....I hope....you're....happy...

Batavia Muckdogs: Signed free agent 2B J. Dynes to a 2-year contract worth a total of $5,000,000.

Also wanted to mention my only other Free-Agent target (within realistic offers) that I didn't land this off-season (so far) was Jack Dynes. Matt, great signing. He'll hit .260, knock in 45, score 45, won't strike out a lot and take some walks. Plus, if you're aggressive, he can steal a few bases. Oh, and if he plays 150-160 games for you, he'll probably win a DUI. Dude is unreal in the field. I offered him a one-year $2.5 deal with a $4.0 mutual option for the 2nd year.
