Andrew fixed the HTML and (hopefully) created a solution (we'll see next sim). The utility was fixed as well, the teams who are getting CASH adjustments will get them this SIM as well.

Wow, what happened to Arredondo? He went from signing a three year deal for 37 million with Virginia to signing a 3 year extension worth 21 million with Philly... and he's had his best years in Philly. Did he suffer a talent drop?

If not, great, great, signing by Philly.

Hometown discount? Not sure, but I guess we'll find out this year. My scout isn't showing a drop yet, but sometimes the actual drop happens and eventually the scouting seems to catch up to the decline. We felt it was worth the risk, with only the next 2 years guaranteed.

Yeah... that's a great deal for you. He should easily out perform the contract even if he does regress.

            Busy sim for the Bats.

CL Roger Simmonds - Two years, $6,000,000 per. Overpaid a little but I was desperate for a closer. Plus, it feels good to re-sign a guy you recently traded for. With his addition, I think my bullpen, on paper, is the best in the IL.

2B Charlie MacCabe - One year, $1,200,000. The OBP machine himself. I'm not sure if he will be given a chance to win a starting spot, but even if not, he is a solid fielder at 2B, 3B and SS, with a great eye. Hit .298 with a .371 OBP for Maine last year.

SP/RP Delmar Oyos - One year, $280k. The former Virginian. My scout has him 4-5-6 and he is only 30 years old.

SS Clement Montgomery - One year, $280k. Former Playboy. Career .230 hitter, but the guy is an "8" at 1B, 2B, 3B and SS. Utility superstar.
            Wilmington Wildcats- 2057-
            Seattle Pilots- 2017-2041
            Washington Bats - 1979-2013

Different version of the game on the last contract, he was also on the Top Players list at that time. I agree though... bargain.

Difficult decision to not bring Oyos back. He was our first real deal prospect and first young Ace. He never became what we thought and we just couldn't find the right role for him in the 'pen. Sorry to see him go to DC.

I wanted to re-sign MacCabe during the regular season but the awesome financial system in OOTP wouldn't let me, even though I could have signed him as a FA.

Not sure how much he has left in the tank but it's worth a gamble at that price.

                    California signings:

SP Donato Guardamagni - No brainer on my part. I needed someone to pair with Wilkerson, and I'm hopeful I found my man. Should give us a solid starting rotation 1-5 now. I'm also hopeful that a switch to the IL will be kind to Guardamagni as he enters the twilight of his spectacular career.

RP Gary Closson - Another Los Lunas transplant, Closson will help bolster a bullpen that did not cut it last year. While he's in the mold of Joe Negron, a high strikeout lefty, I'm hoping he doesn't get used quite as much as Negron has been these past two seasons.

                    ---

Still not done on the FA side... I have 2-3 more targets in FA that I'd like to sign, as well as possibly trading for a power OF bat. If anyone has any interest in dealing one, let me know.

I'm pretty familiar with Oyos. I'm not sure what role he will fill for the Bats either. Initially, he will probably start in the 'pen but I think he might fit better as a starter. He will be given the opportunity to land a spot in Spring Training. I was surprised no one else took a flyer on him. I offered him the minimum, which was far less than what he wanted, but bit right away.

My scout has soured on him in recent years, but he still thinks he has one of the best eye's in the BLB. And from what I have seen with the new version, example Dave Robbins, all physical skills eventually falter but a batter's eye stays. He might win the 3B job, he might be a bench bat, but either way, I think he is a pretty solid player at that price. Definitely worth the gamble. Plus, he had a great '89 campaign.

That's true in real life as well. If you see an increase in strikeouts as a player gets older... it doesn't mean they don't know the zone as well... it just means their bat is slowing down. Strikezone knowledge should continue to grow for a player till the day they retire.

Did you ask your scout for a scouting report?

OSA updated but I don't think some scouts have done their full reports yet.

I made sure to send my scout out to see a few free agents before bidding.

Yep, the report came back clean, but I do have a new scout this year (my last one retired despite being in his late 50's and being under contract) so I don't have any history with this new guy. Still, if he doesn't fall completely off the map, he should hopefully be able to produce to that salary. If not it's "just" 2 seasons.

I really wanted Simmonds. Made a counter offer for him this sim, but it was just under what you got him for. I think you beat me by $200,000. I hate you.
