Check my financials, Philly can't run up anything in FA.

If there's going to be a poison pill... I certainly don't need it to come from one of the Porter owners.

I did the same thing...made some decent offers to 4 guys...trying to make my $4.5 FA money to stretch as far as I can.

Yea, I lied and I'm pretty sure we're gonna end up going after the same guys.

I only have two in my sights and one's a pitcher, the other a hitter.

I don't think it should be that difficult to figure out.

Anyone with a lot of money should go after those two.

I went after a few since I have the money but didn't go over the top. With shorter FA windows I think I should have bid more. We have some young talent coming up but I would like a veteran stud or two. I look at it that instead of having $22 million tied up in a minor league player I can have half or more of that tied up in some quality guys to get us some more wins. That gives us hope.

This is my 2nd real chance at FA since I came into the league...the first I signed Bing and Sizer and that didn't work out too well.

I would be willing to consult you on FA signings for a fee of $2.0.

should you miss on FA...many Whalers can be had for the right young prospects. However, you must actually give up something. Not pretend or rationalize to yourself that you are giving up something.

I thought I had a little money to spend on free agents, but I guess not. I'm only allowed to spend a little under $10 million despite being well under budget.

No matter how many times someone explains this to me, I'll never get it.

I also can't spend all of my free agent money because I'm told my dollars will exceed the future budget. But, that's not true at all because my payroll goes down in the following seasons.

So, not sure what mysterious player is eating up my dollars.

edit: I see you're taking the same step as me, declining a future option.

                        +1

I only have something like $4.5 I can spend on FA for next year. The problem is it won't let me spend more than that for future years...why? My salary report for future years shows less than this year. Doesn't make any sense to me.

The future budget doesn't accurately simulate what guys are going to get in arbitration though... maybe the owner/game somehow knows the real number?

But the salary report makes an estimate and based on that salary report, even with arbitration, my payroll is going down.

And according to the Advanced Report, available free agent money takes into consideration scouting and staff expenses.

Maybe I'm overlooking something but whatever it is, it should be fixed by Markus because the game shouldn't tell me one thing and then tell me the other. That's not a case of me not being aware of the math in the game. It's a case of something needing to be changed in how the game shows me its math.

Anyway, I know this has been beaten to death but it is annoying when you think you have $25 MM dollars and you really only have $12 MM.
