A disappointing end to a promising season.

Despite hitting about as well as our Pete Kellum days, we have gotten progressively worse in the pitching department every year since my tenure as GM. I thought this was the year we'd turn it around but then Soto falls apart. I'm not sure what I can do next year with this staff. We'll see.

The Furry Pigs return to the post-season after a two-year hiatus! The lads were very motivated during this last seven-game road trip. We started with an improbable 3-game sweep of the Storm that featured a favorable run differential of 18 : 6; and a 15-inning marathon in game #3. Then we split 4 with the Dinos; which is only fitting since we were .500 against each other all season.

Next up..The heavily favored Syracuse Slammers. Ironically, we were 7 - 5 against them in the regular season. That means nothing at this point, of course. But hopefully these little piggies will get in a groove and not go "wee wee wee all the way home" in 4 games.

Would like confirmation as well.

Kataoka is one of our September call ups and he's been tearing the cover off the ball. Unfortunately it appears he wont be eligible to play.

Got killed by injuries this year but still finished near .500 on the season. I take a lot of blame for being complacent when a lot of my bullpen arms bolted for free agency and I replaced them with scrubs.

Losing Don Leonard for most of the season hurt badly. This was one of the best offenses I had in Storm history, but still need to get a consistent leadoff hitter. Other than that, I think I have a talented young core with Joe Rojas, Curt Dodson, and Anibal Calderon to build the offense around. I have number of bats in the minors, most a ways off but the offense has some interesting pieces on the horizon.

Congrats to Los Lunas- I had ceded the division to Sin City but they were able to pull it off. Sin City's offense is stacked for years to come though so they'll be fine. This division is getting better by the day.

We didn't specify anything about the 40 man. I think players promoted from within the organization are fair game.

August and September of '89 will go down as one of the worst periods in Bat history. Entering August, the Bats were 61-38. Finish September at 85-69. Awful. Congrats to Clay on his first division title (and first playoffs!) and to Sully for winning the Wild Card and returning the Wildcats to the post-season for the first time since '86. I wasn't in the least bit surprised at the Colonials year, but I never expected to finish 3rd in the standings to Wilmington. Cheers guys.

Hard to feel awful about a 90-72 season, I mean there are teams out there who still haven't done that, but in Washington that's a let down. First time my team has missed the post-season since '82, ends the steak at six years. (In 1982, the Bats went 97-65, but no Wild Card.) My owner had the season expectation of winning it all, but with the injuries this team suffered, 90-72 is rather impressive.

The core should remain the same, but there is a long list of '89 Bats who will not be returning. Serio Lumar, Jose Sanchez, Frank Donegan, Joe Sierra, Grant Lewis, Oscar Paulet. Pateshall has a player option and I'm hoping for a Dave Robbins retirement.

At least I'm not picking at the very end of every round in the draft like normal...

Won our third Porter title in four years with a 4-3 sim. Came down to the last game which we fell behind Philly and I was already writing off the year as a massive disappointment.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Thankfully, the bats came alive and we squeaked out a close win to move on to the playoffs.

I have to give my division mates a ton of credit for help making the Porter the most active division in all of the BLB. Brad, Matt, Prez you guys rock and I look forward to more years of fun baseball discussion and budding rivalries!

First time in the playoffs at SGN. I literally high fived my wife after watching the game when I clinched. Partly because I was excited, but mostly because I was hoping to annoy the hell out of her. Congrats to all the other playoff teams.

edit - wow, just saw 7-0 sim. Nice ending, and kinda cool to get to 100 wins. Got some tough decisions to make for the playoff roster.
Congrats on a division title well-deserved.

I thought it would take 96 wins to take this division and not only did I overestimate by three wins, but you blew right by that.

Hey, what about Denver?!

Well, I guess having to face Maine just kinda makes it seem like I was just invited because everyone was being nice. But I can't stay for too long.

All I know is Maine was 7-5 against Denver. We like to think there's still a chance.

Oh yeah, forgot about you. Sorry...

Both of you guys have really good chances to advance. If you guys advance, it'll be like two superpowers clashing. I'm talking black holes, sea's rising, dogs and cats living together...

Thats the kind of power the Pilsner brings to the table.

I guess what I'm really trying to say is, good luck to both of you. Yeah, that.
