Maine's Magic Number is 9. He may clinch before September call ups. That division should be ashamed of themselves.

Another terrible week for the Tobs. We should be out of first place by the end of next sim.

          4-2

Pleasantly surprised with our sweep of the Bats. Helped out Virginia further by losing two of three!

I'm not sure what to think about us selling off some of our major players mid season. Wonder where we'd be with them...

            Theodore 3-0, .38 ERA last 3 starts.

Kit Kat had his best start of his career. Let's see if he can back it up with another one.

We're making the playoffs in 1991. We might even do it next year. Just watch.

Aurillo is our only starter to post a sim-ERA below 5.91. And we somehow go 4-2. Back in first.

                    Baltimore Bulldogs (59-58)

                    2-1 @ CHI
                    1-2 @ WAS

                    Week In Review

-- Our starting pitching is starting to pick up again. Hopefully we can keep this going into September. We had Soto, Hanrahan, and Nathan all post ERA's below 2.6 this last week. Two bad our relief wasn't up to the challenge.

-- Its funny, I've been chastising Pat Washington (1B) all year for his lack of performance. However, when I look at his stats, he's not having a "bad" year. Its just not as amazing as last year.

-- The injury to Chad Stafford could be crucial these next two weeks. He's one of best and most consistent starters in Baltimore. We are going to shelve him on the DL for 2 weeks and hope and pray that Juan Jose Garcia will be able to fill his shoes for his next two starts.

-- Our offense has sputtered through August. It is a bit annoying that we can't put another month of good hitting and good pitching together. It seems like we can only get one or the other. Boyd has not been the same since his injury.

                    ON-DECK

-- Next up: Inter-league play as we head to Pawtucket and Pittsburgh. Inter-league play is always exciting. Hopefully we can pick up a few games with a good week, as California and Philadelphia get a chance to face Maine this week.

Awful, awful week. Clay may have just locked up the Stout. Oh that is going to be painful.

With Poling out and now Maeda (who you even have to admit is developing into a legit player) out... I'm not counting anything as locked. With 3 weeks of Cristian Martinez at 2B including a series head-to-head, this division should go down to the final week.

I know. It's far from over. Just wanted to inflate your head a little more.

It's really going to come down to the seven games we have against one another.

                            4-2

                            2-1 vs. Los Alamos
                            2-1 vs. Wilmington

                            Good

                            - Team ERA of 3.57 with 45 K's and 25 BB's. After some outside consulting we have made a few changes in the pitching staff and hopefully won't see the league leading amount of walks that we had continue
                            - SP Athey had another solid outing. 6.7 IP, 1 ER, 8 K's, 3 BB
                            - MR Chet Stephens pitched in 3 games, gave up no runs, and struck out three. Since the once promising SP went to the pen his ERA has gone from 6.71 to 5.69 and he's given up 1 ER in 14 games.
                            - SS Juan Jose Nava returns from injury to hit .294/.350/.471 with a HR and 3 RBI's. His ratings have decreased according to my scout but maybe with playing time he'll regain his once promising form.

                            Bad

                            - 5 errors during the week...including 3 in one game vs. Wilmington
                            - SP Hudder gave up 3 HR's and 5 ER in 5 IP
                            - CL Ken Bayer earned another save but gave up another ER...pushing his ERA to 2.38, the highest it's ever been. His post All-Star struggles continue.
                            - 1B Raul de Jesus hit .182 for the week and his sophomore slump continues...if you consider .280/.360/.407 a slump. We'd really like for Jesus to hit for power as his 6 HR's aren't what we expect from him.

                            On Deck

                            - 3 @ Pittsburgh
                            - 3 @ Pawtucket

The Muckdogs travel to the DL league this week for a fun filled time of inter-league play.
