        Wow. Didn't see that coming.

Of course, those pesky Snappers also went 6-1, so we didn't get any separation. Another big 4 game set against them this sim.

Annnd... there's the injury bug we've avoided. Noah George out 4 weeks and setup guy Pat Reardon out for the year.

              Washington Bats (61-37)
              2-1 @ California
              4-0 vs. Morgantown

              THE GOOD

-- Total team effort - As a group, the Bats hit .295 with a .791 OPS. Very impressive numbers.

-- Pat Daniels? Who the hell is Pat Daniels? - 2-0, 14 IP, 12 K, 1 ER. Wow. I called this guy up on a whim. Been legit. Looks like a long-time Bat rotation man.

-- Those other guys are good too - Carl Pateshall and Cristofor Villazon combined for 16 innings, 16 Ks, 1 ER, 0 BB, in two starts.

-- I thought they had a closer issue? - Not anymore. Roger Simonds, since arriving from Davenport, has yet to give up a run and is 8/8 on save opportunities with two wins.

              THE BAD

-- The Ol' Wes - It had been a good run, but Wes Emerson is starting to get exposed. Probably a better fit as a RP. He expects to be in the bullpen and his ratings go up when he is moved to that position. He lasted 4.1 innings, giving up 5 ER and taking the only loss of the week.

-- Good thing it was the same game - After Emerson pitched like shit, the Bats brought in MR Caleb Alston. He managed to give up 5 runs, while recording just two outs. He might be sent down to Triple-A.

              THE MINORS

-- Top prospect makes his Triple-A debut- Uh, wow? 6.2 IP, 11 Ks, 1 ER, 1 BB. He might be BLB ready. No rush, but he is going to be special.

              ON-DECK

Big week. Three at Wilmington. Four at Virginia. Could decide the division.

Pat, I'm stealing your little format. Slow work day.

                Syracuse Slammers 62-36, .633
                3-0 vs. Pittsburgh
                3-1 @ Denver

                THE GOOD

-- Tynan Brown - aquired from Mississippi a few weeks back, Brown has been a reliever his entire professional career (outside of 2 starts), but Syracuse management brought him in with plans of starting all along. Scheduling delayed his first starts with the Slammers but when given the chance, Brown shined. 2 starts, 0 ER, 0 R, 3 hits allowed. Didn't go deep into games, but very happy with what we saw.
-- Hope you enjoyed your time off - C/DH Clint Underwood, out for the past 5 weeks, showed no signs of rust or lingering pain while hitting .387 with 2 HRs, 8 RBIs, and an even 1.000 OPS.
-- Every other pitcher - 2.35 ERA and 1.22 WHIP for the week. That's really strong for us. Aurillo and Charlie O'Rogan are chugging along. The pen has been solid enough, although not what I hoped they would be.
-- Please re-sign me - Joe Cuevas continued his sneakily quiet solid season, hitting .368 with a 1.289 OPS. Even hit a triple.
-- I thought they had a closer issue? - Not anymore. Roger Simonds, since arriving from Davenport, has yet to give up a run and is 8/8 on save opportunities with two wins.

                THE BAD

-- Show some consistency - Dave Wyatt, Frank Rancourt, Greg Josey... all guys are .300 hitters who couldn't even get close to the mendoza line this sim.
-- Man up - Noah George comes back for 4 ABs before getting hurt again; he'll miss 3 weeks. MR Pat Reardon is done for the year.

                THE MINORS

-- Our AAA lineup is pretty solid, but unfortunately, I think it's a bunch of AAAA guys. The biggest bright spot is 1B Dani Rodriguez, hitting .357 with a 1.037 OPS in 89. Unfortunately, he's buried behind our depth chart of 1B/DH guys at the BLB level.

                ON-DECK

Big week. Three at Indy. Four at Dallas. Could decide the division.

Holy crap. Former Syracuse scrub Maureo Gonez is CRUSHING the ball in the minors for Carolina. 18 HRs in 208 AA ABs and 22 HRs in only 154 ABs in AAA. 40 HRs in 362 ABs. Plus he's hitting for average and drawing walks. Scrub.

Both you and Dallas are on another level right now.

This is ok, though. I can give Greene and McDonald a little demotion to work out some things. It helped Murillo last year and it helped Williamson earlier this year. Both guys went on to pitch very well after a quick recap in the minors. I'm hoping that by September, Greene and DMac will have figured it out.

Does not mean we're giving up or trading. I still have Browning coming back very, very soon. Murillo should be back in a month as well. If Denver can stay close then September could get interesting.

To add onto my 5.20 ERA let's take a look at what Pat did to my closer Ken Bayer.

                            Pre All-Star Game

                            4 ER in 3 month

Since the disastrous 92 pitch outing in front of the home crowd...

8 ER in 13 days...2 losses and 3 blown saves.

                            Only in Batavia.

The crowd kept chanting his name. IL management was afraid of a riot if they had taken him out of the game.
