Originally posted by Pat View PostI can understand the logic. I bet it probably was an auto pick. He didn't get much playing time immediately after the draft. Then, your scout gets another look in the off-season, and maybe he was something like 5-3-4, and he is now 4-2-4. So, he has no BLB projection, then he starts the year giving up nearly two hits an inning? You are thinking, "this guy is a complete fucking scrub."
It's just....sometimes scouts are wrong. I have had prospects that on draft day, my scout loves, then when he gets a second or third look when he is on the organization, his opinion changes to much worse but the stats are still good. Then in a year or two, they are back to that initial potential.
Sometimes players, especially in the minors, just have an off-year...or start off slow. Check out Pat Hamilton, 1B, on my Triple-A team. http://www.simgamingnetwork.com/blb/...ayer_2889.html
He has been in Triple-A for five years. His first two, he hit .283 then .327. Then, he hit just .148. Now, the past two, he has hit .283 and .293. It happens.Denver Bulls

You have a 33, 31 and 29 year old on your Triple-A roster. It appears you have been following my method.Wilmington Wildcats- 2057-

California Kodiaks (46-36)
1-2 vs. Davenport
1-2 @ Windy City
THE GOOD
-- Ovando back in the news - Joe Ovando got back on track this week with a .400/.400/.733/1.133 week. He's displaying plenty of power. We love it.
-- Compres lighting it up - Jose Compres has been on fire since returning from the disabled list. After a week in which he hit .542, Compres raised his average to .383 on the season.
THE BAD
-- Anyone seen Robby Shannon? - Horrible week for the big man. He went 2/24 on the week and left numerous runners stranded in scoring position.
-- Aguilara is done - I gave him time... but Joe Aguilara is done. The guy has been nothing but a bust for me since trading for him. That's what I get for trying to save money on a bargain rate closer.
THE UGLY
-- Ducks still on the pond - For the week, we left 50 men stranded on the basepaths. That's a horrible number and really killed any chance the team had at winning close ballgames.
INJURIES
-- Owen Gilbertson - The leadoff hitter for the IL All-Star team was injuried in the last game before the break as he was hit by a Raul Carrillo fastball that will put him on the shelf for the next two weeks.
-- Jarred Good - After struggling the entire first half, Good ended it with a bang by partially tearing him labrum which will require five weeks of rest. I'm hoping the time off will help him refocus... but its just as likely that his reign as an upper level 2B is already over.
ON-DECK
Time for a break. As Robby Shannon, Owen Gilbertson, Joe Negron and Jared Austin head over to Batavia to play and watch (Gilbertson) the IL/DL All-Star matchup, the rest of the team will get a well deserved few days off. We finish the week with a quick three game homestand against Los Alamos; a team that always gives us fits.California Kodiaks - GM - 1982-2013
