California Kodiaks (44-32)
2-1 @ Washington
2-1 @ Morgantown
THE GOOD
-- Tibaldi finds the fountain of youth - Galterio Tibaldi has turned back the clock in CF this year. Hitting out of the seven spot, Tibaldi is seeing the ball well and putting a charge into it.
-- Toapanta on track - Joe Toapanta stepped up this week by going 7 IP, giving up 2 runs while striking out 7 and walking none. Joe needs to keep it up. In 1987 and 1988, Joe finished 5th both years in VORP among IL pitchers, he hasn't shown that form this year. Maybe this start was the beginning of something good.
THE BAD
-- Good is not so good, again and again - Three straight weeks, three straight bad weeks for Good. Can't figure out what's going on with the guy. Sophomore slump?
-- Snow gets blasted - Chip Snow has been a very solid member of our starting staff this year. Sadly, he was awful against Morgantown this week. 2 IP, 7 hits, 6 runs and 2 HR's allowed. Thankfully the offense put up 12 runs so the 6 runs wasn't too bad, but I hate whenever a starter taxes the bullpen.
THE UGLY
-- Aguilara's time is running out - Joe Aguilara has about one more week to get his act together. What's troubling is the fact that his 2.33 WHIP does not seem to be going down. Can't continue to throw this guy out there if he's going to be walking a tight rope every time out.
ON-DECK
Start the week with three at home versus Davenport and then I travel to Chicago where we finish off the first half of the year against Windy City. Like many, my team will enjoy the few days off around the all-star break.California Kodiaks - GM - 1982-2013

Baltimore Bulldogs (43-33)
3-0 @ Carolina
2-1 vs. Los Alamos
THE GOOD
-- It feels good to be on a bit of a run. We've won ten of our last twelve and have maintained pace with both Philadelphia and California. Streaks like this are crucial as I would like the moral to be high going into the 2nd half of the season.
-- Although he is still not very happy about the idea of being traded, Romano Rodenas (C) had his first productive week in a Baltimore uniform last week. He led the team in RBI, doubles, BA, and OBP last week. We would like to see more of this from him.
-- Ivan Garcia (2B) had another good week and with his current performance coupled with the Curt Boyd injury, Ivan will find himself moved to the top of the order. I'm wondering if the pressure to hitting early and often will get to him.
-- Lefty second baseman, Zi-cheng Jin has finally returned from a 3-month shoulder injury. Nothing spectacular, but Jin did put up a .286/.286/.429 in 14 AB. After the All-Star break, Jin will give us an a bit more offense against right-handed pitchers.
THE BAD
-- Pat asked for injuries for Virginia, and looks like the Baseball Gods extended his request to us as well. All-Star shortstopCurt Boyd, our leading candidate for the IL Stout Slugger, tweaked his back a bit hustling to first against Los Alamos last week. Luckily for us, the All-Star break is just around the corner, minimizing the impact of this injury.
-- Rookie,Loren Washington (OF) had a horrible week going just 1/30, with 0 BB and 10 K. I'm wondering if the grind of the long BLB season is taking its toll. Either way, we've called up Joe Saxton (OF) from AAA to give Loren a break this week.
THE MINORS
-- Bulldog prospects, Don Castor (1B) and Manny Banuelos (CF) have been nothing short of amazing since being promoted to AA-Camden. Castor won his first professional award with the AA-Wort POW for the first week of July. He hit .458/.500/.875 with 11 H, 3 HR. Banuelos, was promoted to Camden last week following his return from a torn hamstring. He hit .440/.500/.600 for the week.
ON-DECK
-- We head back home for a 3-game home stand against the Stout Division leading, Colonials. Following that, we head to Wilmington for three games and to finish the first half of the season.
