Also just exported a new file with cuts in A ball.

Looks like all promotions were made. Any player that I cut from AAA or AA was sent to A and sat there. Very weird. But, very easy to find the guys that I wanted to get rid of since last week.

Same thing happened in another league I'm involved with. Players that were cut from the roster ended up on A Ball rosters and had to be re-released. Not sure it was ever determined exactly what went wrong.

It might be a timing issue because I ran the draft but never clicked "Finish Today"

I thought I was being clever by running the draft on Monday instead of Sunday to prevent newly drafted players from playing a game before you guys had a chance to make lineup changes. But maybe this was the issue?

I think next year I'll try scheduling the draft for Sunday but sim all the games before entering the draft.

Does that mean it is possible to lose a star minor leaguer forever then? I remember my case last year of a minor leaguer who suffered the setback -> CEI and his player number was reissued immediately meaning he couldn't be resurrected. Seems like the same thing could eventually happen to a Top 100type too, right?

Not sure to be honest. It seems like the player id would only be removed if new players are being created (end of feeder season or draft class creation). Might have just been a fluke.

Listen, you! Nah, I'm cool with it that he sucks now. It was a bad injury. The thing that's weird about it is he suffered zero talent hits. He just started to suck. (Really, I blame OOTP rating pitches. He got hurt before the change and now that he's out there and his individual pitches have bad ratings, he isn't the pitcher he was supposed to be).


edit: Keep in mind that I like that OOTP made this change. I find it realistic.

THE GOOD

-- Ovation for Ovando - I'm going to keep writing about Joe Ovando until the man finally comes back to earth. Hopefully I'll be writing for a long time. This week Ovando hit .400/.478/.550/1.028 with 3 2B's and 3 BB's. What a find he's been so far!

-- Tafur making some noise - After losing starting SS Lucio Mendez to injury, I was quite worried I would not have any replacements that could blend an ability to field (most important aspect of a SS) and provides just enough of a bat to get by. For at least one week, Anier Tafur stepped up in a big way and provided great power as he slugged a whopping .652. While he only hit .261, he posted 2 2B's, 2 3B's and 1 HR. Very happy with how Tafur played.

-- Welcome to the Shoko - Shoko Tsuji, a 10th round pick in the 1984 draft finally has found a permanent spot on the Kodiaks bench. An after thought when drafted, Tsuji has done nothing but hit, hit, hit in the minor leagues. Though he has been slowed by injuries in his career, Tsuji still possesses great speed and a solid glove. He's the perfect 4th/5th outfielder and I look forward to him having a solid career on the Kodiaks bench.

-- Goodwin is good - Curt Goodwin made his Kodiaks re-debut this past week and had a solid showing going 2 IP, 1 K and a sparkling WHIP of 0.00. Curt is still young, so I have big hopes for the kid we drafted once upon a time.

THE BAD

-- Good is not so good - What's gotten into Jarred Good lately? Last years Refreshing New Brew has been in a severe funk at the plate. While he still has a solid .365 OBP, he's been terrible against LHP, hitting .198 on the year. If Good can figure out his struggles, look out; he'll be dangerous.

THE UGLY

-- Blown save - Not a lot to complain about this week, so I'll find something. Conan Wilkerson was looking to pick up his eighth win of the year, and was in line to do so against Pawtucket when new closer Joe Aguilara dragged his gas can to the mound and proceeded to blow the lead. As they say on the streets, Aguilara should sleep with one eye open... I've heard Checkmate does not take well to pitchers blowing his win opportunities.

ON-DECK

Start the week with an off day before heading into two crucial midseason series. The first is on the road at the Stout leading Virginia Colonials. After that, we head back home for three against Wilmington.
