• SIM COMPLETE - 1989 - Regular Season 10

    Next sim: Wednesday

It looks like most transactions worked fine but a lot of the cuts did not go through. Please reduce your minor league rosters for the next sim.

If somebody has time tonight, can you try to submit a file so I can test to make sure exports are working correctly?

Aurillo and Theodore had one heck of a matchup. Piglet tosses a 1 hitter for the win.

4-2 sim puts us 2 games up in the division. No idea what to do with myself.

Also just exported a new file with cuts in A ball.

Looks like all promotions were made. Any player that I cut from AAA or AA was sent to A and sat there. Very weird. But, very easy to find the guys that I wanted to get rid of since last week.

3-3 Sim. Now 2 GB of Syracuse. Darn that Pilsner.

Williamson came back from AAA and struck out 10 batters in a win.

Erwood has now thrown 16 innings of no run baseball in his last two starts - this happening immediately after returning to the rotation after a brief stint in the bullpen.

Zamarida did not hit for average, but did hit another 3 home runs and drove in 7 RBI. He now has 20 HR and 52 RBI on the season. I'm absolutely shocked. If he continues at this pace, he might reach 300 career homeruns before 1990.

I think Denver played better then that 3-3 sim record. Some guys are starting to hit. Others (Pargas, Higgins and Montero) are slumping hard.

Same thing here. All the guys I cut were on my A team.

Solid week for the Tobs going 4-2. I don't know what's gotten into this team but we're playing pretty good ball. We've still got glaring holes all over the place so I expect to cool off soon.

Lost 2 extra inning pitching duels to Maine. Talk about bittersweet. I love the pitching, hated the outcome though.

                    I don't know. That's pretty damn realistic.

The guy would rather retire than continue to rehab from Tommy John Surgery.

I could totally see that happening.

Carolina Tobs- 37-27, 1st in Bock
This Week- 2-1 vs Dallas, 2-1 vs Denver

                      The Good

-We won 2 out of 3 against two good teams from the DL. I was hoping we’d split the week or at least not get swept in either series so to come away with 4 wins is great news to me. I would have never guessed this team would be 10 games over .500 since we’re not that good on paper. Hopefully it keeps up but I doubt it.

-Our pitching was excellent this week. We didn’t give up more than 3 runs in any game and only 13 in the six games total. Dallas and Denver aren’t bad offensively, so that’s more than I could hope for considering my pitching staff is comprised of young guys or castoffs for the most part.

-Don Alexander had another good week, continuing his hot June (.396/.500/.642 on the month). I knew he’d step it up and it’s come at a good time as some of our other bats are beginning to cool.

                      The Bad

-We lost two games by combining to score one run in the losses. Ruined good performances from Cain and Castre.

-Amato Albors is out for 3 weeks with a strained foot. He was day to day coming into the sim but I played him anyway. The two injuries don’t have anything in common (bruised elbow, strained foot), but you never know with OOTP. Of course his most likely replacement, Gene Leonard (AAA), also got injured. Jack Dynes has been complaining all year about not starting, he’ll get his chance now.

                      On The Farm

-SP Raul Gonzalez continues to tear up AAA, throwing 7.1 innings of one hit ball. He began the year in AA and dominated there and he hasn’t fallen off since being promoted. Gonzalez just turned 21 this sim, so I’m in no rush to call him up but he’s performing well beyond my expectations at this point. Apparently Virginia also has a highly regarded pitching prospect with the same name.

I'm simply dumb founded. I'm on the fence of selling some assets or waiting for some injured guys to come back.

I really don't think our team is this bad, but maybe I'm in denial.

This Week- 2-1 vs Mississippi, 1-2 vs Sin City

                          The Good

-As a team the Bats hit .282 with a .791 OPS this week. This includes Dave Robbins and Clint Johnston. Robbins is having his best season since '83, currently hitting .278 with a .851 OPS. Johnston, after a rough debut, is hitting .350 with a 1.001 OPS in the month of June.

-How about Wes Emerson? The Rule V draft pick has a 2.63 ERA and a 82% quality start. Pretty impressive for a guy no one had ever heard of.

-It looks like closer Joe Alveraz has finally figured it out. After two really bad months, he has calmed down in June.

                          The Bad

-Pat Daniels made his debut. His first start was good, 6 IP, 0 ER, 9 K, but his second start was awful. 4 ER, 1 IP, 0 K. Small sample size but if he pitches more like the first game than the second, he will be fine.

                          -Michio Nago's bat is cold.

                          The Injured

-SS Jose Sanchez is still five weeks from making his Bats debut. If he were healthy today, I'm really not sure how I would get him in the lineup. But I guess that's a good problem to have.

I'm getting closer to starting to rebuild. My offense isn't bad but the atrocious play of my bullpen and loss of Don Leonard has hurt us badly.

Sounds like you need a starter.
