Low Fatigue Recovery on his Team Dr leads to tired players... tired players get hurt like no ones business.

Just imagine how many injuries he would have if his team had actually stolen a single base in the past season and a half.

Fairly significant injury for Grant Lewis. At 37 is that it for him?

We didn't win anything in Wilmington.

But hey..at least Virginia really showed us how to play in a a "big boy's" park.

            Washington Bats (22-16) - Sim #6
            1-2 @ Chicago: 6-2, 1-2, 3-4
            2-1 @ Batavia: 5-4, 12-1, 1-2

            The Good
-Dave Robbins loves hitting in the bottom half of the order. After moving him from #3 to #6 in the lineup, he responded with a 8/18 week, with 7 BB.
-Pateshall and Carlton might not lose again.

            The Bad
-My closer has really been struggling. Maybe it's pitching for a new team. I don't know what's going on.

            The Injured
-Oh boy. I lost my best RP, Grant Lewis, to season ending Tommy John surgery. He is a FA at seasons end. 37-years-old. Odds are he won't be back. Sad day for DC fans.
-That's not all folks! SS R.A. Grounds will also miss some time. Three weeks to a fractured thumb.

Didn't you have a bunch of injuries the year after your last championship?

Yup. That was the year that Sierra fractured his ankle, missed a year, and was never the same player again.

                This year:
-Jose Sanchez, out for 5 months.
                -Grant Lewis, a year.
                -Nago, a month.
                -Grounds, couple weeks.

                It's not even June yet.

I remember having a lot the year after my championship, including Matt Hannigan's career being ended.

A 5-1 sim in Denver helps separate the Bulls from the rest of the Pilsner pack - albeit by only a small margin.

O'Fallon finally hit another home run. It only took nearly two months.

Williams seems to be finding his groove after a horrid April. McDonald rebounded nicely in his last two starts (only one earned run). Murillo continues to pitch well, though five walks limited him to five innings in his last start. Greene is pitching well. Winchell keeps on keeping on. Erwood had an Erwood like start (4 runs in 8 innings, suffering a loss).

The bullpen has been rock solid, though Sierra saw his ERA jump a bit by giving up 2 runs. He still went 4-4 in saves. Rice has been nearly unhittable in the past month.

Seltzer is struuuug-ling. Not sure what to do with him at this point, but he's going to lose at-bats to O'Fallon and Windley (especially Windley who continues to hit well and get on-base).

                      Zamarida is on a tear.

2-4 sim, but we did rack up 11 errors, including two games with 3 each. YIKES!

                              Baltimore Bulldogs (20-18)

                              2-1 @ Virginia
                              0-3 @ Wimington

                              THE GOOD

-- It is settled. We are planning for a major park renovation within the next 3 years. The right field and right center walls need to be moved back. We went to Virginia and Wilmington and had Soto, Lillie, Faircloth and Hanrahan all pitch great games. We lost two of those games due to poor bullpen play, but I'll take all of those quality starts and roll the dice with my bullpen every time. We will probably not move the right wall back too much so as to keep the special park dimensions, but right center will have to go. Sorry Caballero.

-- Every year I do the same thing. I put Curt Boyd up on the block get a couple of o.k. offers for him, bring him back and he has an even better year. This year, he is proving himself to be one of the best shortstops in baseball. With a .417 week against two of the better teams in the IL, Curt Boyd has really "grown up" this year.

-- Pat Washington did pretty well this week, going 6/19 with 6 BB and just 1 K. Is this a sign that he's back on track?

                              THE BAD

-- Fritsch blew a save against Wilmington last week. With this being his third blown save this year, I'm hoping that a small move to add Cesaro Pena to be another option as a closer will give Fritsch the rest necessary to perform at a high level every trip to the mound to close.

                              THE FARM

-- AAA Annapolis, lefty, Len Hayes has been begging to be in the Bigs since he came over in with the trade for former Bulldog, Frank Esser. After a horrible 1988 season in AA Camden, Len Hayes was still promoted to AAA Annapolis upon request. Hayes has responded well and with continued performance, he may find a spot on the September 40-man roster.

                              ON-DECK

-- Next week 3 vs. Los Alamos and 3 @ Morgantown.
