Alright...maybe the long term contract will pay off! His ERA this week went from 10.0+ to 6.00...it's a start.

Orlan Coronda Hurls No-No Against Morgantown

Tuesday, May 16th, 1989: Batavia's Orlan Coronda was right on the mark today at Lawrence Stadium in a sensational no-hitter against the Morgantown Mohawks, shutting them down 2-0. He chalked up 6 strikeouts and gave up 4 walks in a game he could really brag about.
"You might say I was the best pitcher in the league today and you would be right."

Coronda has offended some fans and sportswriters with confidence that sometimes borders on arrogance.

The Batavia skipper told reporters in the postgame interview, "He tossed a masterpiece today and it ain't braggin' if you can back it up. Today he certainly did just that."

A reporter asked Coronda if he thought the fans would appreciate his perceived greatness after this game. With a big grin on his face, he quickly quipped, "Listen, if you start worrying about the people in the stands, before too long you're up in the stands with them."

In pitching stats this season Coronda has rung up 2 wins and 4 losses in 7 games. He has an ERA of 7.79 and has fanned 26 batters in 34.2 innings.

Carolina hits a lot of batters. Geez... hit me 5 times.

For the 3rd week in a row I called my record for the week.

Maybe you should start betting on BLB games.

He's on pace for 72 right now.

(Waits patiently for season ending injury in next sim)

                  4-2

                  3-0 vs. Morgantown
                  1-2 vs. Washington

                  Good

                  - SS Jermaine Edmonds has been everything we hoped for and more. He hit .357 this sim and for his rookie campaign is hitting .353/.409/.419 with 1 HR and 26 RBI's.
                  - SP Corondo pitched a no-no
                  - A team ERA of 2.91 for the week
                  - 3 GB with the summer months approaching is better than usual

                  Bad

                  - A team batting average of .211
                  - We hit 3 HR's on the week...my SP hit 1 of them
                  - SP Stephens got rocked...we need to adjust our starting pitchers getting pulled strategy
                  - Our OF's of Gilbert and LaVergne have been horrendous...hitting .200 and .128.

Crap. For some reason my export didn't go through. Oh well.

We're treading water right now. Losing Burgett for the season really hurt. Still waiting for the pitching to get back to normal. Some of these guys are not playing to their norm.

The game said Hector Solis could start games. I didn't think he really could and his first attempt certainly didn't go well.

Our pitching is going to be a complete disaster the rest of the way. I wish I could say help is on the way, but its not. I simply can't develop any talent in the minors.

I feel you. I've gone hitting the last few drafts and have nothing coming up at all. With Crossman blowing out his arm and Walters following Stephens lead and taking a huge hit we have nothing to look forward too.

I feel for Spear over there in Davenport.

His team is the walking wounded.
