    OPINION.

It's pretty clear to me that Danny Nelson plays better with Woodbury out of the lineup. Must be a motivation thing.

So, anyone know how to lower a teams BABIP? Other than replacing good hitters with great fielders, that is.

My team is .040 points higher than the IL average.

I think that's the reason some of my pitching stats are out of whack.

        Really? How clear?

Nelson went .308/.321/.654/.975 in the games they were both in this season. His numbers are worse without him.

However, that said, even if Nelson were better with Woodbury sitting (which he isn't)... does that mean the rest of the team is?

          1. Time - Still really early in the season.

          2. Fielding - You touched on this. I do think you are being hurt by Jackson's poor 3B defense. He also really doesn't have the arm for the position. (According to HTML) Also, I think catcher defense might be the most important on the field when it comes to pitchers being affected. Is Austin any good?

          3. Morale - Keep 'em happy!

I'm just blowin' smoke dude. I think your team is a lot better than it's playing right now. Especially if you stop trading away your best RPs and moving the other good ones to SP.

I'm a morale guy. That's my least favorite part about OOTP X. All these Pitchers that want to be Starters are just killing me. Even Ivan Perez and Sammy Scott who are in my 'Pen want to start and they were both drafted as Closers. With the guys I have coming up right now, Jerry Collins and Jayson McQueen (the two RP converts) will eventually be 'pen guys again someday. I think Raul Gonzalez and Gus Jenkins are both true starters and will round out the rotation in the next few years.

Plus, moving Simmonds was a great move for me. I got a great player at #2 and endless flexibility financially now. Doesn't hurt that I think Olivio is a nice prospect who could be BLB ready this season too.

I didn't know arm really played a part for the infielders? The game doesn't just go by their error rating?

I believe it impacts throwing errors and infield hits on guys on the left side of the infield.

Did you think it was just a cosmetic rating?

Yes, it plays a part. You need a stronger arm at SS than you do 2B. You need a stronger arm at 3B than you do at SS. Same as IRL.

According to the HTML, Jackson has a "4" arm. I usually don't play anyone at 3B with under a "6" arm, unless I have no other options.

But yeah, like Clay said, if the guy doesn't have the arm to make the throw he will either miss the throw leading to an error or the player will be safe because his arm isn't strong enough to make the routine 3B-play.

No, I just thought it only effected infield hits. I had no clue it also lead to errors.

I look at Clay's roster and that starting staff and I see a playoff team. Nino, Poling, O'Hegarty, Toselli, Woodbury, and even Nelson. The offense is loaded, and the younger pitchers are pitching to their potential. Bullpen is middle of the pack, but I think the rest of the team is good enough to overcome it.

Oh, I almost forgot...the Bats are 0-3 against Wilmington this year.

Strong week in Denver. Back in stride after some tough breaks last week.

Good to see Williamson bounce back after two straight horrid starts. Winchel, Greene and Murillo have been solid. Erwood had a tough 1988 and an even tougher 1989. Not looking good for him. McDonald is a clear example of how rookies will give you some growing pains.

Guys aren't even hitting that well early in the season but Windley is pushing to play everyday. Compounding this problem is fellow catcher Scot Borkholder playing very well. I can't complain, though. I like the problem. Al-Sadat looks like he's getting back on track as well. Just need Higgins to perform better at the plate.

Tucson Bulls (AAA) miss the three rookie starters.

Picked up Iván Arellano off waivers from Davenport this past sim.

Just two years ago he hit 30 HR's in the BLB so I'm hoping he still has something left in the tank.

Either way, he should make a solid pinch runner/late game defensive replacement.

I saw that he was available, but my OF is too crowded to pick up another guy at this point. Nice addition as a 4th/5th OF type. Not sure hell ever live up to his rookie year production again, but as a role player he definitely has his uses.
