Sigh, 3-3.
Picked up two players off waivers who will hopefully help us, OF Montgomery from Batavia and MR Ojea from Denver.
Trying to have patience but I don't like losing that series to Morgantown. Doug Hill isn't as lights out as I thought, going to give Simonds the chance to pick up more saves. Starting pitching looks like they are about ready to get in a groove.Toronto Canadians - 2004-

He's always done well in his short appearances in the majors. I really wanted to keep him on the roster, but there simply was no space. I think it's a good pick up.Last edited by Spear; 03-17-2010, 11:00 PM.Toronto Canadians - 2004-

Darn!
Also, has anyone here been able to figure out how to read the Prospect List?
Batavia's De Jesus's playing card says he is the #14 ranked prospect in the BLB (as of April 10).
Yet, the Top 100 list has De Jesus #85.
That's a huge difference. I don't get it. Never have.Last edited by Carlos; 03-18-2010, 06:40 AM.Denver Bulls

Baltimore Bulldogs (7-5)
1-2 vs. Wilmington, 2-3, 7-6, 6-9
2-1 vs. Washington, 6-2, 5-1, 4-5
The Good
-I'd be lying if I said I knew Caballero would be this good when he was signed. I'd also be lying if I said I expected he would continue '89 where he left off in '88. The guy is a beast in Baltimore and up for another contract. I'm wondering if I should have resigned him at 11 million at the beginning of the season, because his price just jumped almost 5 mil/per.
-Pat Washington started the season a bit sluggish, but has found a bit of a stroke in week 2, .364/.440/.591 with 2 home runs.
-Tommy Lang is looking to be more and more like the legit starter we hoped he could. With a bit of help from a few spectacular defensive plays by Ivan Garcia (2B) and rookie Loren Wallace (LF), Lang pitched seven scoreless innings against the defending champs in Baltimore for the 6-2 win on 4/21/89.
-Rookie Loren Wallace looks like the legit player my scout thought he'd be. Wallace is hitting .362 through two weeks of MLB play and doesn't show any signs of slowing down. It will be interesting to see what happens when career long Bulldog, Mark Mabbett returns from injury next week. I doubt if he'll be starting when he gets back.
We won our 4th one-run game with another walk off in 9th. Very exciting games to watch and see our offense perform in the clutch.
The Bad
-I know its just his first week with us, but I was expecting a bit more from Huxham. Hitting .238 isn't going to cut it, but I'm sure the Brit will pick it up as he shakes off the rust.
-Dylan Lillie had another terrible showing in his 2nd start of the season and I'm wondering if he's lost a bit in that arm. He was a big strikeout guy for us and now, I'm seeing a lot of 1-2 counts becoming hits, where he would have just blasted it past a guy 2 years ago. He's definitely #5 in the rotation and 2nd year man, Chad Stafford may see a few more starts if Lillie isn't careful.
The Ugly
-Hanrahan looked shaky out there against Wilmington. He went five innings giving up 7 H, 5 R and 3 BB. Not good.
Our pen is dead last in the IL in ERA. Young pitcher, Raul Reyes is on the verge of being demoted back to AAA for the 2nd consecutive year. He pitched 3.2 innings in six games giving up seven runs and four walks. That's not acceptable performance.
The Minors
Don Castor (1B, AA) was recently promoted to AA ball. Our scout said he thought he was ready for it but I wanted to wait and see how he performed in Single A ball in Orlando before getting his promotion. He did well in his first two weeks so we've giving him a bit more of a challenge and hopefully a winning team to play for.Last edited by Delandis; 03-18-2010, 08:21 AM.

Whatever it is, it's needed cause between the Woodbury injury and some ice cold bats, someone had to do something to keep us treading water besides the Starting Pitchers.
