  • Los Alamos already got 3 of my Top 15 Pitchers. I think we may have some scouting in common. Interested to see what he does with 2 of the next 3 picks.

    • 3.1 - Doug Farmer (3B) - L.A. - Not really on my radar, but plays well in college and has the Shane Halter defensive flexibility

3.2 - Dewitt Dunlap (1B) - SIN - This kid was on my radar and in my queue. I think he screams future DH - which is why I had him lower on my list. His resume at Miami is already impressive.

      • I have one player left on my list. If he goes, I'm full auto already.

I don't think I've ever seen a more worthless draft in our short history. This is god awful.

Yup, I'll be curious to see how many actually crack the Top 100.

          • This may be a product of the feeder league system. You have to learn to adjust. I kind of like the idea of less once in a generation type players coming into the league.

            • I think it may have to do with us being able to increase scouting budgets as well.

...not sure if Spot knew he had two picks so close together...

              • It certainly makes the draft a lot less fun.

Auto drafting after the 2nd round isn't much fun IMO.

So don't Auto. Use a different criteria. College stats. HS stats. Speed. Cool names. Any of those would at least make it interesting.

But auto'ing might be in the best interest of the club.

My scout really likes Artie Abbot, only two pitches though. Still, might be a good value pick.

Or trading the picks if you truly see no value. Cash them in for current prospects or gamble on a better class next season.

                            • Very happy to get Mencia. Might have some control issues, but my scout projects his stuff to be nasty. More than likely a bullpen arm.

                              • It's not that I think this draft class sucks (though it is pretty average). It's just that everyone is taking the guys I want before I pick. It's making me cranky and angry and it's not fair. I'm about to cry and cry until everyone just gives me the players I want for low draft picks.

But seriously, Reed has been questionable with his recent picks. Willie Stevens has been inconsistent and slid in the latest rankings. Pat Wentzel doesn't scream absolute stud to me, though OSA is convinced he'll be good. Reed's saving grace might be the Jones/O'Day tandem if they continue to develop.

With the exception of Pancho Alvarez (who OSA hates), Reed hasn't done well drafting position players. Gore doesn't scream quality to me but he's one of my best hitting prospects. I don't think that's saying much.

Selzter, Al-Sadat, Pargas, Montero, every rookie pitcher recently promoted and Murillo are the children of Newton Tickner. He was amazing. He even put me onto Borkholder and Higgins.

If Greene sucks, Reed is getting fired.
