The SP out of LSU would be the second overall #1 in Bandits history. The other, David Tardif, decided to try FA rather than resign with the club that gave him his start.

Time will tell if Dimmick can be the next coming (hopefully better) of Hotwire.
If his list is really in, should we kick it off for him in case he doesn't plan on coming back during the day?

IF we can tell that he has his list in AND he has it set to Autopick, I would say yes. If we can only tell that he has his list in and can't determine if he turned on Autopick, I would say no.

The last time the Colonials made a late Pre-Draft trade, they moved up to select Pancho 'Ironfist' Herrera at #2 overall in 1985. Now their Ace at the age of 21, the Colonials hope to duplicate their success once again.

            ***

With the 2nd pick (from Sin City) of the 1989 BLB Amateur Draft... the Virginia Colonials select....

            Pat Robbins
            Pitcher (RH)
            Cal State Fullerton
            6'0 - 221
            Largo, Florida
            21 years old

The Virginia Colonials are happy to welcome Pat Robbins to the family. When the tough off-season decision to move Vernon Simmonds was made, the addition of the 2nd overall pick in the draft was a soothing elixer to the short-term step back in talent. Robbins throws four pitches at high velocity. He keeps the ball down and generates plenty of ground ball outs. He was the #1 player on the Colonials' draft board grading out slightly higher than 1st overall pick Pat Dimmick. The Colonials liked Dimmick, but his lack of a 4th pitch at his age and questions about his ability to consistantly give 7.0 innings, made Robbins the player to
            get.

Because of his two years of top-level competition at Cal State, the Colonials expect Robbins to work their system quickly. Though he will cut his teeth initially in the Bush League, Virginia sees him as another solid piece in their already building "Next Generation Rotation" with Gus Jenkins, Raul Gonzalez and Ivan Olivo.

With that... I would like to official petition the league to change his last name to Smear.

I have to leave the office or the rest of the day and will be without the internet...

I have a small pref list set up, but I want to make my #4 pick after I see who the 1st 3 teams select. I will be home at 4:30 and make my pick if I am up by then.

Had L.A. gone with Robbins, I would have passed on Dimmick. He was #5 on my board.

Sorry about the slight delay. I thought that it would just pick when the draft went live.

I was getting my ass kicked doing PlyometricsX (day 2).

I had Robbins at #7. I actually have another pitcher ahead of him after Dimmick.

That's what I like to hear out of the team that I agreed with on the high level talent of "Checkmate".

I may never win a Championship, but I may be just a few seasons away from a 10-man rotation of under 25 studs.

Really liked Dimmick. I knew he wouldn't be around, but if I had gotten him I was going to remix the "def poetry jam" from Cheap Seats about Pam Minnick. I'm sure no one else knows what I'm talking about.

Robbins... I liked Robbins but not as much as Dimmick, although looking back I love his college stats. Nice pick.

Another new aspect for the high school guys- I know a lot of people ignore OSA ratings and I don't think they're gospel by any means, but I do think they are another piece of the puzzle. With the feeder leagues being new last year, none of the feeder guys had OSA ratings, but they do this year.
