  • 1989 Power Rankings - Shavermetrics

OK, I've spent month in the lab retooling by Shavermetrics. Formulas once only used in the draft can now be applied to the BLB level. After months of exhaustive research and painstaking calculations, I'm ready to release my first POWER RANKINGS of the season.

This ranking is based 100% on BLB team PRE-SPRING TRAINING. Calculations will be adjusted after ST (if I have time).

1989 PRE-SPRING TRAINING POWER RANKINGS (by Shavermetrics)

    1) Washington Bats
    2) Davenport Brawlers
    3) Dallas Snappers
    4) Windy City Playboys
    5) Maine Guides

    7) Indianapolis Clowns
    8) Wilmington Wildcats
    9) Virginia Colonials
    10) Carolina Tobs
    11) Hartford Whalers
    12) Pawtucket Patriots

Initially, Wilmington seems way too high and California way too low.
    Wilmington Wildcats- 2057-
    Seattle Pilots- 2017-2041
    Washington Bats - 1979-2013

I thought the same thing initially... Philly seemed a little low too. But, my Math is my Math. Things can and will change.

It's the basis that drove my Virginia 3rd, Wilmington 2nd and Wildcard prediction.

            1. Cali is not a bottom 10 team with Shannon back. Honestly they were a top 7 team without Shannon.
            2. Storm just went to the championship and are tied with me? I think not.
            3. I can agree with 9 of 10 top teams. I'm looking at Wilmington and I'm sorry, but I don't see a Top 10 team there.

            - Porter Champs: '92, '93, '97, '98, '01, '03, '06, '08, '12

We're better, should be around .500, but I don't think we're Top 10. I agree that the Kodiaks should be higher.

Good stuff Clay. Maybe someday we'll be privy to the method to your madness.

No way we're top 10. Closer to bottom 5.

Other than that, it looks great.

They all laughed at many of the greatest minds when their theories were first revealed. Vindication will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine.

I agree with us being number 2.

                        Thanks Clay.

I think Denver/Sin City should be at least in the top 15. Not sure I agree with Carolina being in the top 10 especially after losing Parongao.

                        Other than that...things look good.

I agree with Denver, Sin City not so much...unless they plan on going with a 2 man rotation and Simmonds as their only reliever.

I do think Spear has the best team on paper.

6th? I love Shavermetrics. Most accurate ranking system by far, even more than wins and losses.
