Carlos, I'm sorry... but you got screwed signing Rodriguez. The reason I let a talented 23 year old pitcher like him go was because his ratings dropped like crazy last year.California Kodiaks - GM - 1982-2013

If not, it's ok. I had money to spend. If I don't spend it, I would have lost it anyway.Denver Bulls

Spring training right around the corner!!!
Anyone have any position battles? Anything interesting???
Brody Whiteley vs. Mark Steward - 3B
Whiteley has been with Washington since 1983. Mark Steward has been with Washington for a couple weeks. This position is truly up for grabs. Whiteley hasn't even been a part time starting player since '85 and Steward rode California's bench last year. No matter how good either of them hit in Spring Training, they will be hitting in either the #7 or #8 spot and not expected to provide much from their bat. More defense and probably a position that I will look to upgrade later in the season if I am competing.
Wes Emerson vs. DT Fitts vs. Jody Kurtz vs. Lucien Lavoie - SP
I brought in Emerson in the Rule V Draft and DT Fitts on a cheap FA contract. Kurtz and Lavoie are both career minor leaguers who have only dabbled with pitching in the BLB. This is an audition for the #5 and #6 spots in the rotation. (#1-#4, Carlton, Pateshall, Villazon and Rodriguez, are all locked in). I'm going to give Emerson and Fitts the first run of starts, but if they falter, Kurtz and/or Lavoie will get the starts the 2nd half of ST. I have considered moving PJ Brooks from middle relief to SP and possibly calling up my top prospect, but those moves will be secondary to the success of Fitts and Emerson.Wilmington Wildcats- 2057-

Todd is a case where my inexperience as a GM shines. My scout has always loved Marlon, so we were extremely happy to get him from Virginia's minors. He did very well the next year in AAA so I bumped him up, but as the last three years have shown, he hasn't been able to translate the minor league success to the Bigs. He started to show a glimpse of ability towards the end of last year, and my scout upgraded his report on him to be a top of the lineup hitter. He'll get at least one more year to show he belongs in Baltimore.
Jeremiah's success is basically the result of learning to have patience in GM'ing and learning what didn't work with Todd. Alexander has spent the last 3 years in AAA, honing his skills. He had a wonderful year in AAA in 1988, hitting .318/.395/.496 with 40 2B, and 12 home runs. One great thing about Alexander is he has the slight ability to play outfield. He's not great out there, but he can double in the outfield in the event that both of these players become the hitters that my scout believes they can.
