Any big time prospects getting the call?

Gil O'Moore will be joining the Maine squad in Pawtucket, probably making his first BLB start at the end of this week.

Big time? I'm not sure. Delmar Oyos may get the call. Jack Kennedy and Lynwood Hutchins will be rejoining the team (they both spent some time up early) after having a really nice 2nd half in AAA. They will both be looking to secure long-term roster spots.

i think i'd like to bring up sakai for a start and probably have freestone roam center field for a couple games... maybe have palencia DH a bit... but those guys are currently in the midst of a AA championship run. while ultimately, a AA championship is meaningless....it's all i've got GOD DAMMIT!

        I got no prospects :(

Although I'm interested to see how Gil does. He in your rotation for next year or one more year of seasoning regardless of how his call up stint is?

I'm in the same boat. I have a few guys in AAA, and maybe a few in AA that I normally would call-up but they are in the middle of the post-season run.

With that said, I did call one guy up, Bob Sanders, SS, that I acquired in the John Brown to Philadelphia trade. http://ootp.oldredboat.com/news/html...ayer_1333.html

The other guys I plan to call-up:

          (AAA)

          Bill Gillespie SP - http://ootp.oldredboat.com/news/html...ayer_2525.html
One of the better rated SP prospects in the game that I acquired in the Nick Latham to Carolina trade. The first round of the AAA playoffs start this week, so if all goes well he probably won't be in the BLB for another two weeks.

          Roku Nakano 1B - http://ootp.oldredboat.com/news/html...ayer_1143.html
He has over 100 RBIs this season, and I would of called him up earlier but I really don't have a spot for him. I've tried him at LF for a few games at AAA, which is probably where I will try him on the big league club.

          Dave Wilde SP - http://ootp.oldredboat.com/news/html...ayer_2362.html
He is only 21 but he been great in the minors ever since coming to the Bats organization. He was acquired in the 1979 trade that sent Yoshi Kitamura to the Whalers.

          Terry Mayfield SP - http://ootp.oldredboat.com/news/html...ayer_1113.html
He was "the other SP" acquired in the Nick Latham trade. He has pitched very well for three years at the AAA level and deserves a shot at the big league level.

          AA

          Tessai MacArthur SP - http://ootp.oldredboat.com/news/html...ayer_2503.html
My 1978 1st round pick. Has performed well at A and AA this season, and just pitched in the first round sweep of the Brawler's AA club. After the AA post season is over, I will call him up to AAA to get a start there, and if he pitchers well, he will likely get called up to the big league club.

My goal from these call-ups is to have at least one of the four SPs to land a permanent spot in the starting rotation next year. I have the #1-#3 spots locked up, but Joe Santoyo has been inconsistent and might not be the guy I am looking for.

I have a few other INF and OF guys that I will likely callup, and they will play at the BLB level in 1981 but mostly for depth that I lack.

I'm calling up Will Park and Ed Smith from AAA. Both performed solidly and I'm hoping to have them become part of the starting team next season. Goudino has been the only steady performer for me in the 2B, SS, or 3B spot so these 2 would be nice to work into the starting mix with him.

I have picked up Gretter and Jones and they may platoon or be the backups in R/L matchups. Gary Aves has disappointed after showing some power early so he may end up cut or in AAA if these 2 pan out.

I also pulled up 2 guys that I had originally thought would be starters or compete for the starting position in the OF. Joe Truex was the starting CF last season and he was so miserable in Spring Training and the first month that I had to demote him to make room(he had option years left) He was steady in AAA and while his contact is a bit on the low side my team suffered from lack of power.

Jim McPhun showed he had power if nothing else hitting 29HR in AAA so he is up for another shot. The outfield is going to be a jumbled mess with Joe Truex, Ray Madonald, Pedro Coztes, Cipriano Locero, Jim McPhun, and Kelan Richard all getting some playing time.

I'm hoping that someone will display some hitting savvy and make my decision for next season easier. Especially hoping to see from the younger guys...Coztes and Locero are both good players and Coztes may be able to hit .300 in a hitter friendly park, but they are both long in the tooth for a rebuilding team.

I've got Sakai starting in a couple days, Ken Freestone should get a few games in center, and Palencia should take a few swings at DH. I'm particularly excited to see what Sakai will do. If his start is anything like O'Moore's I'm gonna be really excited at the prospect of having a winning ML squad sooner than later.

Not really a sept. callup, but I decided to give my #1 Jack Curry a start in AAA. Responded with a 9 inning shut out. Not bad for a 17 year old. But he's definitely going back to A for next season.

He's been up at the BLB level off and on, but Murcott getting injured required me to put Will Porter into full time duty in the OF and at the leadoff position, and he's been impressive. Hitting .317, with a .391 OBP so far, he'll definately factor into my lineups next season.

Charlie Hoeft (a young pitcher I received in the Goderie deal) got a win in his lone start last week.

                        Here's his line:

                        IP: 8
                        H: 4
                        R: 0
                        ER: 0
                        K: 9
                        BB: 1

He's only 22 so l'm hoping this is the start of something good.

2 of my callups were very good. Will Park, 20, looks like he may work out and Truex showed why he was slated to be a starting outfielder until his miserable performance at the beginning of the year. McPhun didn't have a good week, but I still have hopes for him platooning in the OF. My other callup that I was hoping to see something from was Ed Smith and he also disappointed at least for this week.

Here are the stat lines for my 2 successful callups:

                          Name: AB H 2B 3B HR RBI R BB K AVG
                          Will Park 20 6 0 1 1 2 2 1 3 .300
                          J. Truex 25 7 2 0 1 6 5 1 3 .280

My top prospect, John Gorrie, will get all of the playing time in LF over the last couple weeks. John Handley was also called up from AA to see some action at 3b.
