I still think Tardiff at $8+MM is too much especially when he'll likely sign for about $10 MM per season after his little bidding war.

He has impeccable control but all I see is a slowly rising ERA and two straight years of allowing more hits than innings pitched.

You're paying for his past. To me, he is Franklin all over again. But, hey, that's just my opinion.

I agree, and I thought my offer was a lowball one. I'd be shocked if he went to me.

As for Hiraki, I did offer him a contract, but due to his age and injury history it was about 3.5 million for one year. No way I was going past that.

Yah, still have mixed feelings about it but I did shed Campo's salary, and have Gorrie coming off the books after this upcoming season. That alone covers Tardif next year. Tardif, Carr, and Sanchez make a nice young trio of starters.

Tardif wouldn't sign with me. He wanted out.

I also don't understand the signing from an organization directional perspective. I PM'd Spot a week ago about trading for one of my older players and he said he wasn't interested because he doesn't see his team being competitive for the next three seasons. Three seasons? So Hiraki is just an OF stop-gap? Wouldn't the team benefit more from giving a youngster an opportunity? Even if that player doesn't produce it saves money, right? Spot knows better than anyone when his team is ready to be competitive, but if that time isn't now, why sign a dude he will be 40 at contracts end?...
C'mon man. You offered me Robbins for Fallon. That's Robbins at 16mil per for the next 2 years vs. Fallon at 1.7mil per for the next 2 years. Hiraki does fill a role for me in a very depleted OF for not a ton of cash and I don't give up anything for him. I am not interested in rushing guys just to fill holes if they aren't ready so I needed a solution.

For the record I am anticipating this deal falling in between Pat's doomsday scenario and Clay's best case.
