If we keep losing guys like Kraft to FA; WE'LL be the "bad one".

Add to that the couple of players I now expect to lose to the Rule 5 Draft because my Boss is a moron (sending me on pointless "business" trips); and it's shaping up to be a shitty year in Los Lunas.

I think Jerry Kraft is the biggest name out there this FA season. I think teams are drooling about turning him into a Starter and trying to capture the Martin Carlton lightning in a bottle. So, with that, I've decided to post my opinion on the Jerry Kraft sweepstakes.

I think the five (5) most likely landing spots for Kraft are:

      1) Philly - Say and think what you want, I'm of the opinion that 90% of Philly's off-season moves were to make room to make the offer that it will take to get Kraft.

      2) Denver - Have CASH - Need ACE - Willing to spend.

      3) Cali - After the B'More Bailout of '88, California is in the position to be in this bidding war. I think Cali's team is modeled after Washingtons. Punch and judy hitters with great pitching.

      4) Sin City - Lots of money, prospects, high picks and no ACE.

      5) Los Alamos - Perhaps the darkhorse pick. LA is that team that is too good to be called bad, but too bad to be called good. They haven't had a true ACE since Tardif's breakout. With Tardif leaving in FA, could be the perfect time.

I think the winning bid is somewhere in the $20-22.0 per year ballpark. Good luck!

I wasn't planning on bidding for Kraft. But if Porter teams are involved... I might have to just so he doesn't come back to bite us in the ass.

I don't believe anything anyone says right now about who they are or are not bidding on.

If the market meets your expectations, Philly will not be involved. It's true our turbulent offseason has created a lot of financial flexibility, but it wasn't done with the express purpose of immediately ramping back up to the luxury tax threshold. We have our reasons, but those are org secrets.

Lets' not forget the fact that Old' Blue and his $60 million dollar contract has been put on the market. If said team with $28 million to spend, a stacked offensive team, and that team wanted to get stronger and younger for the '90's run....I'd say there are 6 likely places Kraft could end up.

Would that be the same team that has to resign Woodbury, Magness and Poling this season? The same guy who didn't do an Aurillo deal because he likes his young pitching staff? I can tell you with 100% certainty that guy is out.

Plus, that guy has Kraft as the #2 player on his list if he were personally bidding.

I think I have pegged as to who your #1 is.

It's a bit off the beaten path... but I'm 70% sure I know who it is.

You always have to throw D.C. in the running...they like to spend.

Denver needs to run out an 8 man rotation and figure out which of those young pitchers is going to make it.
