Not sure if that's OFFICIALLY what that number is, but that's the concept I labor under.

BTW - I think my theory is correct about salaries going down overall. I really do think we're moving to a more stable BLB economy.

Last Arbitration we had numbers as high as $12,000,000. This year, $9,500,000 was the highest and it was for guys with nice resumes.

We smoked in arbitration. Payroll coming way down. Next year it will be nothing.

The default number is not what the player is asking for. It is only an estimated amount. Players will ask for more. Much more.

One of my players had an estimated amount of $2.4 MM. I figured he deserved a slight raise even then and offered $2.5. I won the case and the player demanded $4.5 MM. I like the arbiter.

I won all of my cases except that the news thinks I lost against Goree because we both agreed he was worth 3.5 MM. Lucky him.

I offered the default number to everyone I wanted to keep. Withdrew (aka Andrew's releasing) Maureo Gonez and Stanton Colin. Just not worth the 3 million and 5 million they would end up getting. Gonez is a sad story. Top 50 prospect at one point, came up and played well, then completely forgot how to hit. I thought he was going to be around for a few years, at least through arbitration.

Oddly enough, by leaving the default numbers, a couple guys "won" anyways. Cannell (deservedly) gets $7.0 million and Zamora $7.5. Not crazy about that Zamora number, but he definately started to put things together towards the end of the 88. Typical Zamora. Can't put together a full season.

I'll trade you Tino Suarez for Zamora and Gonez.

I actually started to type something about that and thought I could save myself the emotions. Although... I wonder if Gonez would be hitting 35 bombs a year and Zamora hitting 70 doubles in Guide blue?

Can we make changes to the players that were left unprotected for the Rule V? For some reason I was under the impression we had until tomorrow night to do so, but it appears I'm wrong.

If not, I'm taking offers for Stu McGee...the same guy I planned on playing next year in place of Campoveroe...
