Is this all-time or just this year?

If it's this year I replace Parongao with Wilkerson.

Clearly, just this year. I think the reason there is no "Checkmate" is because he did the best LH SP and best RH SP.

It's just this year... and Wilkerson isn't on there because I only took one RH and one LH starter. IL is VERY top heavy with RH starters and LH relievers.

No, with the Poling injury, Newlin was an easy choice here.

Oh, but only because of the injury. Got it.

I said the injury made it easy. Can't speak of an alternate scenario where the injury didn't happen, because it did. When we ASSUME... we make and ASS out of U and Diesel.

                    Harry Elliot - .319, 10 HR, 52 RBI, 85 R
                    Mike Murdock - .306, 16 HR, 102 RBI, 94 R

Plus, Murdock won the IL Glove Wizard Award in '87 and will likely repeat. To me, it's really a no brainer who had the better season.

                      That's cherry picking stats though.

                      Elliot - .442 OBP, .869 OPS
                      Murdoch - .375 OBP, .855 OPS

You can't knock Elliot for batting leadoff and thus having less RBI chances as well as not scoring as many runs because his teammates weren't knocking him in.

                        Exactly.

Diesel, you're the one who always wants to factor where someone bats in the order (their role on the team) when it fits your argument. Two-way street.

Plus, I'm went with Elliott because I think he swung Davenport into a playoff team. I never said it was 100% stats.

I agree, he doesn't get an opportunity to knock in as many runs, but he has much more of an opportunity to score runs, batting leadoff. More plate appearances, more time on base in an RBI opportunity, etc....but Murdock still scored more.

But that's just as a hitter.

Murdock also lead the entire BLB in defensive win shares, regardless of position. He was 3rd in total win shares, behind just Woodbury and Scott, in the entire BLB.

It's pretty clear to me that not only did Murdock have the best season as a catcher in the IL, the BLB, he may have had the best season for an IL catcher ever. The All-Time great seasons for catchers has been in the DL. Stiver, Miller, Lumar...Murdock had a season for the ages.

Yes, but not every catcher is in the top ranks. Elliot doesn't even appear in the top 100 for defensive win shares. In the top 5, there is only two catchers.
