That is true. Murdoch's WS for defense is worth about 3 games more than Elliot's... but on offense I don't really think there's a question as to who's the better hitter.

It's pretty clear to me that not only did Murdock have the best season as a catcher in the IL, the BLB, he may have had the best season for an IL catcher ever. The All-Time great seasons for catchers has been in the DL. Stiver, Miller, Lumar...Murdock had a season for the ages.

If you honestly believe this, how did not pimp him for IL Stout Slugger? I mean, if you truly believe this was a "season for the ages".... how did 23 other owners miss it?

Stout Slugger is a hitters award, not a defender award.

Check the numbers. I couldn't find an IL catcher with a better season, defensively and offensively.

The first thing you guys will need to do is come up for names for the awards:

best hitter
best pitcher
rookie
fielding

I think we should stick the "beer" theme of the league and not some player-name award (ie: cy young). something along the lines of Refreshing New Brew Award (for rookie), Stout Slugger (for best hitter), Pale Ale Pitcher (self explanitory), and something for best fielding... can't come up with one at the moment.

Before my time... but I've always viewed and voted on Stout Slugger as the best Non-Pitcher on the season. I use hitting 1st, but I use things like baserunning and defense to break ties.

I do too. Defense and baserunning are more than tie-breakers, but only used when the players batting stats are so close. But it's not MVP...which I would have argued for some Murdock votes if that were the case.
