Every year, around Christmas, I take a break. It's opposite of what most people do...and that's why I do it. My gym, from Christmas-end of February is a complete zoo. So many people. So many new faces. I hate going to the gym when it's that busy. Plus, you would think that more people, potentially means more babes or more people who know what they are doing in a gym. Wrong. The increase is all scrubs.
That's why I waited till Mid-Feb to start my new training.
I'll be 40 in July, and at times I feel it and at times I don't.
We'll have to throw you a retirement party in June...rule 13, section B of the official BLB rules:
'There shall be no GM's over the age of 39. Any person who still is a GM will be forced into retirement and must forfeit their team rights on their 40th birthday.'
I've been trying to lose weight for the last two, three months, and have lost about 10 lbs or so. But, I keep gaining some back. The holidays were a killer.
For me, I need to eat healthy to get my cholesterol down, so I eat oatmeal twice a day for lunch and breakfast. Then on to my problem, which is dinner. Like Andrew said earlier, my portions are out of whack. I was good for a while, but I'm back to eating like I'm never gonna eat again.
Exercise is my other problem. Don't really have the time/need to join a gym, but I do have a stationary bike, so I need to use it. For something other than a clothes hanger. Working out after work sucks, so I think I'm gonna have to start doing it before, if I can. I also have some of those workout band things.
I know my diet worked. My bad cholesterol dropped and my good cholesterol went up in the three months that I was trying to eat well/exercise, so that was good.
You guys are inspiring me with all of your workout talk though. I just need to find something that works for me and go at it.
The new trainer killed me last night. He's a power lifter and he's all about the 80's Soviet philosophies for training athletes. Worked with him for 90 minutes, felt pretty good at the end. He says, "Yeah, your quads may be screaming tomorrow." I'm thinking, OK... whatever... I feel OK. I'm pretty tough. I was running 3-5 miles five days a week a few months ago... my legs will be fine.
Fast forward to the morning.... dude... it was hard to even put my socks on.
But, really, it's nice, yes, but it also sucks. It's just as hard to gain weight and be healthy as it is to be healthy and lose weight.
We're both trying to get to the same point.
My older Brother was like that till he was about 30. He use to drink ENSURE between meals just to force more calories into him. After 30, he's managed to maintain a healthier weight without any extras.
