  • SIM COMPLETE - 1988 - Playoffs 1

    Next sim: Friday (noon)

Congrats to the winners. I think the 3 man rotation back fired on me a little bit as we lost Suarez and O'Moore's 2nd games. Losing Corrigan and Hudder really killed our chances for this postseason.

Well, at least my pitching waited until the playoffs to implode. Also seems like everyone either got hurt, or ejected for arguing strikes. Either way, a beatdown by the Bulls. Good luck the rest of the way. I feel like we're quickly becoming the Buffalo Bills of the DL Wild Card...

Well that's the 2nd year in a row where we take out Maine- this time it required an epic 7 game series to fulfill the task.

We got beat down in Games 1 and 2 in Maine, didn't show up. Don Leonard really stepped up and pitched masterfully in Game 3 to avoid a 3-0. Young Jerry Ferrell outdueled Tino Suarez in Game 4 to even up the series.

Game 5 was one for the ages as Manny Puerias went the distance and threw a one hitter but was on the hook going into the bottom of the 9th. Jared Kirby flied out and then Samrano struck out against Hernando Ortiz to start the bottom of the 9th. Nick Latham then walked. Curt Dodson then came up and drilled a double into the gap and Latham scored on a play at the plate to tie the game at 1. Chaim Lamberts then came off the bench and doubled home Dodson to give the Storm a 3-2 series lead.

Game 6 was a bad game as the Storm got beat down by the Guides again as Areas pitched poorly for the second time in the series.

Game 7 was the coming out party officially for Don Leonard- he went 7 innings and only gave up 2 runs in the series clincher. As I said before the series, pitching was going to be the name of the game in this series.

Next up is Denver- should be interesting!

I'm surprised, really. Every series went 7 games, but you bowed out in a sweep. Your team didn't seem to put up much of a fight either. Your best chance was in Game 2, but then the ninth happened.

I kinda feel like your team just gave up after that. It sucked all of the air out of them. You guys even had a 3-2 lead into the 6th inning in Game 3 after the rain delay. Then the bases loaded and Zamarida hits a grand slam.

It just seemed like my guys had an answer for everything.

Would you like to call my mom a whore and kick my dog too?

Yeah we didn't show up. However we're using the $1m in playoff revenue to go to Vegas.

Your mom is a much better person than that. I'd at least call her a hooker before I called her a whore.

Seriously, though, I'm just surprised by the causes to the effect. I've seen good pitching staffs hold down my offense and fully expected that this sim.

You're a gentleman, and a scholar of the game.

I agree though. Most of my guys were sub 4.00 ERA, and one of the better bullpens. But there seemed to be almost one big inning a came from your offense. Not to mention Castro on the offensive side having his worst 4 games of the year. Needless to say, you guys weren't exactly cold coming into this series, and were obviously the better team. Good luck in the next round.

Congrats Diesel. Fitting that McEvoy finished me off. We almost got ya though. At least we beat the mighty Carlton.

Definitely fitting that McEvoy finished the series. I was pretty nervous heading into game seven.

Has anyone ever come back from 3-0 down? Almost happened twice.
