Only guy I'll pimp is Eric McCoy for Last Call- dude had a phenomenal season with 40 saves and amazing peripherals. The DL had some great closers this year and McCoy deserves some consideration.

What the hell, I'll pimp CL Jerry Kraft for the DL Last Call Relief. Even though he's dumping me, the rat bastard.

I totally missed a couple guys who really deserved votes (realized it after I saw the results). I think I was right on with all the first place votes but I had a few guys I should've voted for who I somehow missed (one in particular who I should've voted for in the DL New Brew race but I guess it's a wash since we know who will win).

I also think it's interesting how some guys get votes on name recognition (at least I think). I don't think Guzman or Diaz deserved votes...maybe someone thought they did but I wonder if it's a name thing. I know I've been guilty of looking for certain guys at voting time.

Most of the awards seem to be already locked up. And I want to know who gave Wilkerson his two 1st place votes against a pitcher who went 21-1 with a 1.49 ERA and 0.86 WHIP.

Isn't that godlike when it comes to baseball?

I was one. I liked Wilkerson's numbers with the innings/k's and walks. He pitched like 30 more innings but had 80 more K's and about the same in walks. He was awesome.

Our whole division is awesome. We should have a Porter All-Star team.

I think that there is a lot to like in the Porter. I'd argue that we have the best set of young 1st basemen in any division.

                  What type of knowledge?

Moneyball, for example, is good if you want to read a story about how a guy put together a team on a shoe string budget... drafting players more on stats than scouts opinions.

There's also plenty of history books on baseball if you take a look.

My suggestion would be to watch a lot of MLB Network if you have it. It's a wonderful channel and they really go in-depth into the world of baseball.

Ya I remember you giving me some books in the Chat Room but I forgot them...I will look at Money Ball. I don't have the MLB Network...or any other cool network for that matter...Comcast sucks.

The Bill James Abstract is the best baseball book I've ever read. It'll give you the entire history of the game, which players were good, and why. I highly recommend it.

Moneyball is up there for me as well. I really enjoyed that book.

Oh, and this won't teach you much about baseball stats, but Joe Posnanski's book The Soul of Baseball is a must read. Tells the story of the Negro Leagues, baseball of today, and America in general through Buck O'neils eyes. Such a good read.

I ordered "Moneyball" and "Baseball Between The Numbers" off Amazon for a combined total of $10 (with shipping).

                          Watch out BLB...here I come.

I'd recommend A Great and Glorious Game by former commisioner A. Bartlett Giamatti

He was incredibly passionate about the game and this book contains some of his best memoirs. He was commishioner during the Pete Rose incident and reading his mindset into the banning is really compelling.

Moneyball is more a story than a how to guide.. like The Blind Side. Same guy wrote both books.

                                Great story though.
