The last 12 games we are 2-10...the wheels fell off, rolled down the hit, and hit Jesus during batting practice.
Bad
- Our best hitter for the sim hit .250, our team hit .188. Really? I long for those days of a team .210.
- De Jesus is in a slump and is ice cold.
- SP Melon got rocked again. Hopefully he get's some pitching tutelage during the off-season and comes back as a better man.
Good
- CL Ken Bayer is on fire. Currently we believe he's the best young closer in the game.
- The season is almost over.
- We signed a new pitching coach for our A club.
A winning sim for Denver. Been about a month since we can say that.
Surprising twist is seeing Indy crash in this sim. Dallas is five games out basically mathematically eliminated from a division title.
Denver would have to drop to go 1-5 while Indy goes at least 4-2 to force a one-game playoff for the division.
Or Denver could go 2-4 and Indy would have to go 5-1 this sim. There are more scenarios, but these are the ones I see most likely to happen with two winning teams.
Those three games are a lot of ground to cover in a week.
Also: I'm going to blame the division games for every Pilsner team taking a large crap in September. These in-division games are killing us. *Unless you're Syracuse who is playing .600 in the month. But we'll see how things close out for them.
You have the division locked up....I'd recommend sitting your starters for the last series of the season so you don't have any injuries.
On a serious note, I'd really do that if I trusted 7-day lineups. I don't. I don't care what anyone tells me, they don't work for me. Something always goes wrong.
But, what I may do is give a few bench players some starts through the depth chart.
Everyone has pretty much hit their season goals. Zamarida did good hitting 25 HR and 100 RBI for a fourth straight season. I'd like to see Sanchez get to 100 RBI for the first time in his career - just needs one more ribbie to seal the deal. Also, he's on his way to playing 161 games. If there's a number I never thought I'd see from him, well, there it is. Watch the injury gods cast a bolt of lightning on him while he sits in the dugout.
But, yea, expect to see Rutledge, Holdom and Gregory getting some at-bats.
4-2 sim. Swept Philly, lost two of three to Morgantown.
My team is clicking again offensively. As a group, they hit .329 with an .881 OPS! The only starter who didn't have a .750+ OPS for the week was 3B Pete Summers, who hits 8th. I will probably give my starters a few games rest this final week, but I am very pleased/impressed with my hitters this week.
My #1-#4 starters, the four-man rotation I will use for the playoffs, combined for 26 IP and just two ER. TWO! But, it wasn't all good news from the pitching front. The River Matthews injury last week has put me in a tight spot. The bullpen lost two games this week and it was by my closer and #1 set-up man. In a matter of about two or three sims, I went from having a top three bullpen to 6th in the IL in bullpen ERA. That's awful. The Bats have had a long history of bullpen issues, makes me nervous.
Question: Can we still make waiver trades? or did we change that rule since last year?

Last I looked, there's no deadline for waiver trades. I have been meaning to post something in rules proposal for a waiver trade deadline because I think we need one.
