  • Any super surprises from the draft?

I've had one that really has me questioning some of my scouts! Brooks George http://ootp.oldredboat.com/news/html...ayer_3029.html

He has been tearing things up hitting at a .301 clip in single A ball. I've rechecked him w/ 2 of my scouts and their estimates on the kid have gone from crap(26max) to solid ballplayer(50s+60s). At the rate he is going, next season he is probably going to be a starting CF in AA.

Nick Duncan, http://ootp.oldredboat.com/news/html...ayer_3180.html, had me really worried when he initially didn't start off very well, but has been shutdown lately so while initially he had me cursing my luck, I think that he will be the stud that my scouts thought he was. Now only if Duncan, Roberts, Villaruel, and Walkup can all get on the same page and up to snuff for the BLB quickly!

Nope... all my picks are dookie, but most are young, so I'm gonna wait it out a bit.

Ruben Caicedo has been a big surprise to me. 8th round pick, hitting .331 with 3 HR, 19 RBI so far, .805 OPS. http://ootp.oldredboat.com/news/html...ayer_2996.html

All the pitchers I selected (Greathouse, Darientos, Seagar) have pitched pretty well so far.

Gary Foote, drafted in round 6. He's 4-3 as a starter, but with a 1.50 ERA, and .95 WHIP.

My 5th round pick, P Alfonso Marecle, is doing pretty well. 3-3 with a 3.88 ERA so far. Him and Boivin are the first guys I can actually call pitching prospects.

I guess I forgot to mention that Brooks George was a 12th round pick that would have been doubling as the ballboy except for Tom Boiue having 8 months of back spasms.(8 months for back spasms??? honestly...)

Brennan Nilson, SP, 5th round, 19th pick
I picked him because he was from my hometown of Auburn, WASH. and I had never seen a player from there before. Thus far he is 4-1, 8 starts, 2.52 ERA, 23Ks, 50 IP

Biagio Sogliano, RP, 7th round, 10th pick
                14 IP, 2 ER, 11 K
                Wilmington Wildcats- 2057-
                Seattle Pilots- 2017-2041
                Washington Bats - 1979-2013

                  WOW.

He only had one more start, which was actually really bad, but he is now listed as #30 prospect overall! The 13th highest rated pitcher.

I took a flyer on this kid because he was from my hometown for my whole life, and as a 17-year-old he is rated so high. My head scout had him rated in the 50s prior to this sim, now he has him in the 70's for potential!!

Doesn't even make sense. This guy was one pick away from being a 6th rounder.
