3-0 sim. We're now 3 games under .500 for the season. No clue how.
But a really nice sim for us. Got Rancourt and O'Rogan resigned at reasonable, incentive laden contracts. Clint Underwood gets his first BLB action and hits .364. The bullpen continues to be really, really good lately. Cannell wins DL hitter of the week for the second time this year.Charlotte Knights - OSFL

All-star Game
Tesina goes 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs. Donato G. whiffed Woodbury, Buzzell, & Harcourt in the 4th; and Washington and Scott in the 5th. After O'Moore teases the IL with a 3-run Dinger, Godzilla takes the rubber to save the game.
There you have it folks...The entire Los Lunas franchise.
Apparently the stigma that is a career in Los Lunas remains. Free Agents are taking minor league contracts from other teams, as opposed to signing a major league deal with us. No love for small-town baseball. Maybe a couple of strategically placed Guardamagni fastballs will get us some respect.Last edited by Gyrodork; 01-05-2010, 12:00 AM.

1-1
Both pitching performances were poor. SP Coronda gives up 5 runs in 6 innings but still gets the win. SP Stephens was upset after not getting to throw a ball in the All-Star game and got whacked for 4 runs in 6.7 innings and got a loss...he did hit a triple though!

Virginia Colonials (43-42)
All-Star Game
3-0 vs Davenport
The 1988 All-Star Game was played under The Big Top in Indianapolis and, while the Colonials got their chances to perform, they were able to contribute very little to the Import Leagues 6-3 loss. Domestic League pitching was fantastic and the DL walked away with a convincing win.
Game 83 -- Virginia 2 - Davenport 0
While Pancho 'Ironfist' Herrerra got a little roughed up in his brief appearance in the All-Star game, he came out firing in the 1st game of the second half notching his 11th win of the season in the shutout of the Brawlers. Five pitchers combined on the two-hitter in what proved to be a somewhat sloppy first outing after the extended break. 5 total errors were committed in the game though none of them were directly connected to runs. All-Star snub Joshua Poling went 2 for 4 and drove in a run in the win.
Game 84 -- Virginia 3 - Davenport 2
Both teams got a little of the rust off and cleaned up their defense in the second game of the series. Virginia played well throughout and flashed clutch hitting by scoring all 3 of their runs with 2-outs. Mel Woodbury doubled and hit his team leading 19th HR in the win. Vernon 'Old Blue' Simmonds saved his second straight game after taking the All-Star break off for the first time in years.
Game 85 -- Virginia 5 - Davenport 4
A come from behind win wrapped up the three game sweep to start the Colonials' post All-Star game run. Vincent Nino went 3 for 3 with two 2Bs and Joshua Poling wrapped up his second IL Player of the Week Award by going deep for the 17th time this season.
WEEKLY WRAP UP:
A sweep is a sweep. We definately caught Davenport at a good point in their rotation, but it is what it is. Was nice to have a Herrerra v Kang head-to-head when I was boasting all week that Herrerra was actually a more deserving All-Star. Poling continues to hit well and seems to be settling in.
Jerry Tracy had a good week back in AAA. I feel like getting at bats is going to benefit him greatly.
Speaking of AAA, Lonnie Coleman, once a highly thought of prospect, came back from an 11 month rotator cuff injury and went 2-0 in his first two outings.
COMING UP:
A day off followed by 6 important home games this week. The first 3 with Batavia include a much anticipated matchup in Game 1 between Muckdogs Starter Cam Mills and Vincent Nino. The usually mild-mannered Nino and Mills came to blows in Spring Training, a fight that resulted in a 5 game suspension for each. Colonials are 5-1 on the season against Batavia.
The next three games have Virginia playing host to the hard-hitting Bulldogs of Baltimore. B'More holds the edge in the season series 5-4 and, more importantly, holds a 5.5 game lead over Virginia in the Wildcard race. These are must-win games for the Colonials if the second half charge is to become realistic.
The other thing we'll be watching this week is the Trainer's table as "The Skull" gets closer to returning from injury. Team Doctors estimate that Magness could be back on or before the Colonials end of the month series with Stout foe Morgantown. The staff is hoping for no major setbacks as a this homegame heavy July will only get boosted by the return of their ACE.The Great One!

There's no pressure to perform here as no one ever comes out to the games!
Heck, even Seth Nelson has turned into my set-up man since coming over from Baltimore.

Hate getting swept like that, especially by Virginia. The series could have gone the other way though. I was expecting Sato to have the blown save in the last game, but turns out it was Simonds picking up his first one of the year.
Bad way to start the second half of the season. Hopefully we can turn it around against some tough opponents this week.Toronto Canadians - 2004-

I'll be interested to see how the rest of the Davenport season goes. I have a sneaking suspicion that Windy City ends up running away with that division. No disrespect intended, but Davenport is Jekkyl and Hyde in the Home/Away splits. Had a very home-heavy 1st half and got out to a lead. In my experience in this league, if you're not at or above .500 on the road, you're not a legit contender.
Porter has three good road teams... that's easily the most intriguing part of that race. The Great One!
