I'm as big of a fan of Indy as anybody... but I'm sorry... any team that has Mike Hinchy in their rotation will NOT make the playoffs.

Keppel has been down the last 3 years (in Keppel terms)... he's back to his old self so far this season.... therefore, one could argue, that his value may be at a renewed high. Even good franchises sell high.

Tigers were an out away from the playoffs last season... they sold high on Granderson and Edwin Jackson.

Plus, the Hyundai situation doesn't even compare to Virginia, so there's no frame of reference. If I had a Harry Keppel, I would definately consider selling high to rebuild my entire system. But (a) that's me and (b) I've never had one so I have no frame of reference... just an opinion.

Either way... Hinchey is definitely one of the better characters of the BLB. The guy just floats from job to job without ever really doing anything.

What does the past have to do with the present? The fact is Hyundai did have a good team for a while but if I remember right their inaugural draft included some older players, who are now gone. Clay & I were lucky enough to have lousy inaugural drafts so now 10 seasons later we're finally contenders.

If Hyundai had a top farm system that would be a contender in a few years I would agree with keeping him, but unless they make some major moves I'd be surprised to see them in the playoffs under Keppel's current contract. In my opinion, they should do what Davenport started doing a few years ago. Trade away their best players and stockpile picks & prospects so in a few years they're competitive again.

In all actuality, Hyundai might even be able to get Keppel back in 4-5 season after his current contract is up--when they might be contenders if they trade him now. I would imagine his demands will be ridiculous so whoever has him then might not be able to resign him anyways...or they'd be willing to move him because they're not a contender anymore.

With all that said, I can totally see not wanting to trade your franchise player, which is why I didn't push Rubisco. I sent him a couple offers and he ended up turning them down because Keppel is his franchise player, which is totally understandable.

B) If I was under the same circumstance, that's how I would do it... but I've never been in that circumstance so how can you compare?

You're comparing Apples to Oranges. Just because we both own teams doesn't mean they are the same. I can only give OPINIONS based on what I would do in that situation. If I had a Keppel like player, I wouldn't say a word because I wouldn't want the competition in the market.

But... rest assured... 3-4 years from now if I have a thin farm system and a 29-30 year old Magness and/or O'Hegarty are still on the Top Players list (and playing like it)... I'll move 'em.

May be just a coincidence, but much like real baseball, the garbage lefty starter seems to have a much longer shelf life than his right handed counterpart.
