Stranger things can happen. I mean Faircloth is leading my team in wins. 5-1 actually.

Does the OSA not rate amateurs?

In general? There really hasn't been a scout that would include them. Should have it in game though.

Sammy Scott at AAA should be ready to S/U next season (hopefully).
I like that part too. Larry was asking for 1.3 mil/3 yrs, which wasn't bad. But now that he's doing so terribly in a contract year, his new offer is $830k for 3. Much better than the 3 million we are wasting on him now.

Well, I always view lowered demands as a ratings hit. Maybe I'm right, maybe I'm wrong... but I've been right more often than not on that one.

Can anyone PLEASE tell me what the hell is up with Hanrahan. Give this man a 4 yr extension and he plays like COMPLETE crap. An ERA over 7, for your big money closer? He still getting the K's so I know he still has it, but he normally gives up 15 ER all year. Guess how many he has through 18 games? That's right, 15. This is annoying.

Edit: Whoa, I just had a JJ moment.

                    Well... here's my take....

First of all, if you take away that ass-raping that the Wildcats puts on you to the tune of 24-0... suddenly he doesn't look as bad. Those 5 earned in 1.0 innings really hurt his numbers.

Second, I do think the conversion to OOTPX has changed some of the relievers ability to dominate. I think they're a lot more human.

Third, his third pitch puts him into that borderline Starter area... has he made any requests to Start? It may be a morale thing.

Finally, 12 of those earned runs have been at home... that little, little, little home of yours. Not sayin'... just sayin'.

                      1. You are right. I try to forget that even happened.

                      2. I hope you are wrong.

                      3. Nope. He wants to close. Believe me the way my starting rotation opened the beginning of the season, I would have given him a chance.

Finally, I have a little bitty park with a winning record. There are some GM's who just have a big park. I'm not talking about the Colons, of course.

I've seen examples of both when contract demands either go down or they sign for less than expected. My take on it is if they only play up to X% of how they did play then I'll try to sign them at their lower demands if I still their of value at the lower price/lower stats. I think it's really hit or miss but as long as the money isn't too much I like taking the gamble.

                          California Kodiaks (24-20) (3.0 GB - PHI)

                          This Week: 4-2

                          2-1 vs Morgantown
                          2-1 vs Carolina

Finally a winning week for the Kodiaks. The starting pitching continues to be the attraction while the bullpen keeps trying to screw things up.

I made a move this sim to sign Emilio Veinzquez as a RHP set up man. Joe Negron and Julian Rodriguez are great against lefties but have been getting lit up by righties this year. Hopefully this will settle down my 11th ranked bullpen and pull them closer to my #1 ranked starting staff.

I've also really tweaked my teams settings to try and squeeze as much juice out of my lineup as possible.

                          Good:
Jarred Good continues to smack the cover off the ball. He's now up to 5th place in the IL in hitting with a .329 mark. The April rookie of the month is looking like he'll have a future at 2B for the Kodiaks. The scary thing is, Good right now is nothing more than a slap hitter... when he fills out, and his ratings start to grow, I really think he could be a monster to pair with Robby Shannon.

Joe Lopez is now up to 6-0 with a 1.72 ERA. Lopez is enjoying his time in the #4 spot in the Kodiaks rotation and seems to be getting a lot of help from his teammates when he takes the mound.

                          Roman Magueu - 15/15 SV/SVO. Can't beat that.

                          Bad:
On the downside, phenom Jared Austin has not hit well behind the plate. Backup Malek Garane has taken his place in the starting lineup and is tearing it up. Until Austin can break out of his funk, Garane will man the plate. On the positive side, Garane was already a better defensive catcher so even if he stops hitting, he calls a great game.

My defense has been less than adequate these past few weeks. While the errors certainly aren't killing me... it's the lack of range my team shows that is killing my pitchers BABIP. Good, for as great a hitter as he's been, has the worst range of any 2B in the game. Same goes for new 3B Miguel Sylvestrie, solid hitter, horrible range. I'm hoping this changes somehow.

Julian Rodriguez. After back to back seasons where he posted 1.17 WHIP's and never had a VORP under 15, Rodriguez has been getting crushed this year... I'm hoping with a switch to where he faces mainly LHB will help bring his numbers down... but I'm worried.

                            Philadelphia Freedom (27 - 17, 1st)

Up and down week for us. Swept by Virginia despite holding Mel Woodbury in check in his 1st visit back to Philly. Then we turned around and swept Davenport. We were a little shorthanded in the bullpen department due to a paperwork issue at the league office. Hopefully that can get resolved for next week.

                            0-3 vs. Virginia

Gm 1: Ben Irvin cruised through 6 innings and then came apart a bit in the 7th. He got no help from bullpen member Jesus Taborga who allowed 2 of 3 inherited runners to score. At the end of the day not a terrible performance by Irvin (6.0 IP | 7 H | 3 ER | 1 BB | 7 K), but his line would have looked a lot better had he not gone out for the 7th or had Taborga not come in and allowed the 2 inherited runs. The offense was held in check by Colonials starter Jerry Morgan and a cast of characters out of the pen. The Joes (Seagarra and Lukies) each went 2 for 4, but neither did any damage on the scoring sheet.
                            VIR 5 PHI 1

Gm 2: A first inning error by normally sure-handed 4th OFer Dave Ibison doomed us from the start. Ray Minnoz fought through the early inning trouble to pitch 8.1 innings while allowing 4 Rs (2 earned) on 6 hits. Greg Josey was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and drove in the only Freedom run of the game.
                            VIR 4 PHI 1

Gm 3: Joe Aurillo gave us a great chance to at least take 1 game of this series, but once again the offense failed to deliver. Aurillo was really good (8.0 IP | 3 H | 2 ER | 1 BB | 8 K), but had to give way to the bullpen with the score tied at 2. Jesus Taborga was called upon once again and gave up 2 ER in 1.2 innings of work. OT was 3 for 5 against his old team and Joe Seagarra chipped in 3 hits as well, including his 3rd HR of the year.
                            VIR 4 PHI 2

                            3-0 vs. Davenport

Gm 1: Tim Nathan was dominant (8.2 IP | 1 H | 0 ER | 1 BB | 7 K), falling 1 out short of a CG shutout. It’s definitely good to see him back in midseason form after a short string of questionable outings. Joe Seagarra was 2 for 3 with a double, OT and Joe Lukies each had 1 RBI.
                            DAV 0 PHI 2

Gm 2: Joe Arredondo took the hill and plowed into the 7th inning before giving way to the pen. On the night Arredondo gave us a line of 6.1 IP | 2 H | 1 R (0 earned) | 3 BB | 4 K) and that was good enough to win since the bullpen didn’t allow any damage. OT was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and an RBI. Joe Lukies delivered the only other run with a solo HR, his first of the year.
                            DAV 1 PHI 2

Gm 3: Ben Irvin took his 2nd turn of the week and this one went a little better than the first (6.0 IP | 3 H | 2 ER | 4 BB | 4 K) as he picked up his 3rd victory of the year. The bullpen took it the last 3 without giving up a run. Greg Josey was 3 for 4 with a run scored and the Joes were each 2 for 4.
                            DAV 2 PHI 4

                            Good:

-The pitching staff put up an ERA of 2.19 for the week. The only rough spot on the week was Jesus Taborga who nearly tripled his IP’s for the year in this one week. We normally try to limit his appearances, but this week was pressed into more duty than he is accustomed to due to a short pen and his performance suffered for it.
-OT had 7 hits in 18 trips including 3 doubles
-Joe Seagarra had his 1st really good week with a line of .476 | .500 | .762 with 3 doubles and a HR

                            Not as Good:

-Our offense just doesn’t work without Joe Coera in the lineup, which is weird because he wasn’t off to a good start after returning from his ST injury. For the week the team hit .219 | .281 | .365 and scored 12 runs in 6 games. We consider ourselves lucky to have split the week at 3 wins and 3 losses.
-Specifically at fault were, Victor Alveraz, Jose Urra and Dave Ibison who went a combined 3 for 48. Ouch.
