I feel sorry for anyone facing our pitching staff.

At the same time I feel sorry for our pitching staff. Wow do we have a shitty offense. Loving the way Yates is starting off. Thing Kit Kat might not be ready yet, gonna let him do some bullpen work for a bit.

                3-4. Another crappy week.

This offense may be the worst I've ever had.

What I hated about this sim....

                    - Nate Magness.... GONE... 3 months.
                    - Dale O'Hegarty.... GONE.... 1 month.
                    - Artie Rhodes... injured all week, but the AI kept starting him, then pinch hitting for him, then subbing for him... so I used 3 players almost immediately in every game.
                    - 4 more 1 run losses... that's 1-9 in 1-run games this season. Bullpen is a mess!!!

                    This sucks.

I guess everyone is moving up a slot and Delmar Oyos and his 88 MPH fastball is sliding back into the rotation. That means Joe Marino is coming up to get beat up in the 'pen.

Cristian Martinez will fill in for O'Hegarty, but that means we have ZERO depth now.

It's going to be an UGLY May!!!

Nice sim for the Storm to get back to .500

Bad news is Ed Munce is out for a week and Nick Latham is out for a few more days. It's gonna be hard to compete with Maine with my B team out there for sure. My starting pitching is holding up well this year so hopefully they continue to do a good job.

Washington Bats (15-11) – 3 Game lead in the Stout
                            0-2 @ Morgantown
                            2-0 @ Virginia
                            2-1 vs. Davenport

                            The Good:

-Martin Carlton made his first start since 1981. Dominant. Six innings, six hits, no walks, no runs, five strikeouts in a 4-1 Win over Davenport. I was hesitant on the move and delayed it as long as I could. Probably should have done it from day one but so far so good.

-Another pitcher making his debut of some sorts was Cristofor Villazon. Returning from injury, Villazon pitched seven innings, five hits, two earned runs, no walks, five strikeouts in a 3-2 win over Virginia. Health has never been a big issue with Villazon in the past so hopefully he can keep pitching this way the rest of the year.

-2B Robert Abbott continues to hit. The second-year player out of Australia is hitting .371, after hitting .318 as a rookie. He already has 178 hits in his first 128 games.

                            The Bad:

-1B Eddie O’Fallon is still on the DL for a few more weeks. His replacement, Bob Burleson, isn’t getting it done. A .211 average is not OK for a guy playing first. Might have to get creative to get some productive at-bats out of the position.

-Back-end starters Ryan Vest and Glen Barrows shouldn’t be in my rotation. With Joe Rodriguez (this week), Villazon (last week), returning from injury and Carlton moving to the rotation, they won’t have to be after this week. One will likely be left on the roster for mop-up, with the other being sent to Triple-A.

                            Wrap-Up:

-I feel good about where this team is heading. With Rodriguez out, Villazon out and Carlton in the 'pen, Rayford Winchell was my #2 starting pitcher. Now, he is my number five. That's an improvement in the two through five spots at starting pitcher, just by making moves internally. My bullpen is weaker with Carlton out of it, but I have options. Once my big hitters get out of their funk, I might be able to create some considerable seperation between the Bats and the Stout.

                              Philadelphia Freedom (15 - 11, t1st)

                              2-0 vs. Batavia

Gm 1: Ray Minnoz continued his good start to the season out of the #5 spot in the rotation (8. IP | 5 H | 2 ER | 3 K), picking up his second win of the season. Greg Josey and rookie C Victor Alveraz each went 2 for 4 and scored a run. Josey also chipped in an RBI. Joe Alveraz pitched a perfect 9th for his 6th save.
                              BAT 2 PHI 4

Gm 2: Joe Aurillo was wildly effective (6.1 IP | 2 H | 0 ER | 4 BB | 8 K) and turned over a 1-0 lead to the bullpen and thankfully they held up their end, with Jesus Taborga, Trevor Broomfield and Joe Alveraz going the rest of the way without allowing a hit or a run. Geoff Scott, Jim Newlin, Greg Josey and Joe Seagarra each had 2 hits (Scott and Seagarra’s 2 hits were both doubles).
                              BAT 0 PHI 2

                              1-1 @ Baltimore

Gm 1: This one got ugly quick. Tim Nathan didn’t make it out of the 2nd despite being the beneficiary of a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the inning. He allowed 6 ER in 1.2 IP and got the quick hook. The bullpen wasn’t much better, but by that point it was just their job to absorb innings. Jim Newlin was an offensive bright spot, 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and a HR. Jose Urra went 3 for 5 and scored 2 runs. Juan Coera hit his 1st HR of the year.
                              PHI 7 BAL 12

Gm 2: Things settled back down to normal in game 2 of this quick series. Joe Arredondo was good (picked up his 3rd victory of the year), though he was limited to only 5 IP. He allowed only 3 hits and 0 ER. Jim Newlin continued swinging a hot bat with his 3rd (team leading) HR. Greg Josey was 3 for 5 and scored a run and drove one in.
                              PHI 7 BAL 3

                              3-0 @ Morgantown

Gm 1: Ben Irvin made the start and pitched an uneven game. He left after 5.2 IP with the game tied 3-3. He allowed 6 H and 4 BB. Chet Clark ended up with the W despite allowing 3 ER in his 1 IP in relief. Joe Alveraz picked up his 8th save with another solid 9th. Greg Josey had his second straight 3 hit game, going 3 for 4 with 1 R and 3 RBI. Geoff Scott also had 3 hits ( 3 for 4 | 2 R | 2 RBI and his 1st HR of the year).
                              PHI 8 MOR 6

Gm 2: Ray Minnoz improved his record to 3-1 while falling 2 outs short of a CG (8.1 IP | 9 H | 1 ER | 1 BB | 3 K). OT and Juan Coera each had 3 hits. One of Coera’s 3 hits was his second HR of the season as he knocks off rust from coming back from the DL. Jose Urra drove in 3 RBI on a bases loaded double in the first.
                              PHI 8 MOR 1

Gm 3: Joe Aurillo got his 2nd win of the week and 3rd of the year (3-1) despite allowing 10 hits in 7.0 IP. OT had another 3 hit game. Victor Alveraz went 2 for 5 and hit his 1st HR of the year. Joe Alveraz picked up his 9th save in a perfect 9th.
                              PHI 5 MOR 4

                              Good:

The offense showed up this week with several standout performances. We entered the week with 4 HR as a team and leave the week with 11.

OT - He ended the week with 4 straight multi hit games and put up a line of .444 | .483 | .519 | 1.001
                              Jim Newlin - slugged 2 HR and plated 8 RBI (.385 | .433 | .769 | 1.203)
                              Greg Josey - had 12 hits and only struck out twice in 28 AB (.420 | .467 | .500 | .967)
Juan Coera - drove in 7 runs and is heating up after a slow start (missed ST with injury)

Joe Aurillo and Ray Minnoz - each went 2-0 for the week.

                              Not as Good:

The bullpen might be a bit of a concern going forward. Small sample size, but a couple of young guys are scuffling a bit as of late. With our pitching first gameplan we will need those guys to get things squared away soon.
