1988 Draft Discussion

Thought I'd get this thread started early with a look back to the 1985 draft.

Looking through my big board (yes, I kept it) my scout turned out remarkably accurate on predicting pitchers and not so much on the hitters.

Of the top 30 on my pitching board...

16 are currently in the BLB (6 SP, 10 RP)
4 are currently in AAA
6 are currently in AA
4 are currently in A

Of the top 30 on my hitters board...

3 are currently in the BLB
8 are currently in AAA
9 are currently in AA
8 are currently in A
2 are currently out of baseball

Did anyone else keep their past draft notes lying around? I'd be interested to see how most did.

I am. I don't even see the slamdunk SP prospect and the Rex Knight clone that people spoke of. I see a couple nice players, but I don't see a Knight, Wilkerson or Brode type.

Ok, good. I thought it was just me. I'm sure there are going to be some real studs to develop, but I don't see that "can't miss" guy on the mound or in the field.

I see both the slamdunk SP and the Rex Knight clone. Besides them, this draft is pretty weak.

Oh, I see the guy they are referring to... but I don't see them as high. But, keep in mind I saw Wilkerson and Pancho Herrerra as 8-8-8 prospects. Knight was similar. I see two high end guys, but not nearly as high.

BTW - I have to say... I'm really excited about our new Feeder League system. One of the biggest complaints people had in the past was the fact that it was unrealistic in the past because we just had so little information on who we are drafting. I love that not only do we get stats, but we'll get to track them through their league's "Top Player List" and other features that give a generic scouts take on things. I'm excited.

Me too. I hadn't thought of the Top Player Lists, though. That's tight.

Will we be able to view those games if we'd like or does the viewer only work for BLB? I've never tried to watch a minor league game.

I'm no expert, but I don't think so. There's stuff that goes on behind the scenes, but in the end there is a bit of randomness to it (from what I've read).

That's plain ol' stamina.

BTW, I don't know if anyone else is doing this... but I'm treating all starters with two pitches as strictly RP's.

If they develop that third pitch, I'll convert them later... but for right now, anyone with two pitches is a reliever in my eyes.

I am too. Between feeders and the new pitching system it introduces a ton of new strategy to the draft.
