  • SIM COMPLETE - 1988 - FA4 (HTML ONLY)

    Next sim: Monday (hopefully)

I updated the html but not the league file for this sim. I'm going to work on adding feeder leagues this weekend and will post a new league file. If all goes according to plan I'll have the league file ready by Monday and Wednesday's sim will be FA 5.

We signed a few. Tried to keep things cheap, and contracts short. Just hope to be competitve this year.

I like the moves you are making. The previous owner really left you with a ton of vacancies at the BLB level. I think getting a few innings eaters, solid bullpen guys and some dudes to play some defense, you could have a competitive season. Well, you're not going to compete with Clay...and he will be the first to tell you.

Are you planning on moving Ed Colville to full-time SP? That's what I did for a bit when I was helping Spectre out with Mississippi. Good player. Him and Middlebrooks were two of the SPs I offered contracts.

I don't get some of these signings.

Obviously each team has a plan that I am not privy to.

But I don't get Don Alexander to Carolina at that price versus retaining Opio.

I don't get a young rebuilding Davenport team going big $ on Gugs for 2 years unless it's a sign with the idea of trading at the deadline.

Love the Opio to WC signing.

Pittsburgh continues to add Virginia's sloppy seconds.

Interesting FA period to say the least.

The only thing that doesn't make sense to me is the Don Alexander signing. I mean, I would say it is probably safe to assume that Opio told Carolina to fuck off and they were going to test FA. Did he refuse to sign with Carolina once FA started though? I would rather have Opio than Alexander, especially on those new contracts.

I can understand Davenport signing Gugs. Gugs is a great SP and great SP is hard to come by. He should be able to play at a high level for at least the next couple of seasons. Maybe they trade him at the deadline. Maybe they try to compete this year or next year, if they fail, they can trade him at next seasons deadline. I like the signing.

Pittsburgh is making moves...a lot of former Freedom players as well.

I think I might be one of those teams that waits for ST to make a splash. The FAs didn't take too kindly to my current offers.

You can change owners, but the shenanigans just never stop in Pittsburgh.

Well, you're not going to compete with Clay...and he will be the first to tell you.
I like the moves Wilmington is making to. I think they are a contender. I don't believe you can have guys like Alvarez, Campo and Romo and a solid bullpen and not be considered legit and dangerous...

I wouldn't want to play me.

1988? Sore arm? Sounds like smack to me.

I didn't like losing Gugs or Delarruz, but I just couldn't keep them. Too much money. Funny thing is Gugs signed for less than he wanted from me. Bastard.

Had an offer in for Dynes, loved his defense.

I do plan on trying Colville as a starter. He could be a steal, but I just need him to eat up some innings for me. Middlebrooks, too. I was shocked I got both. Would've been happy with just one.

                        Chubby still sucks.

The division is wide open and there is a chance for us to really compete this year.

Gugierrez and Kang provide short term stability for the rotation. There are a number of quality pitching prospects in the system but unfortunately they aren't as ready as the big league offense is.

Plus my first signing had to be a big one.

I guess I'll believe it when I see it too, but my scout is fairly impressed with Kang since the conversion. Maybe he has one last hurrah in him.
