The Virginia organization would like to congratulate the following former Colonials on their recent retirement and wish them good luck in whereever the future takes them....
Eddie Just (OF) - Chosen 3.8 in the 1978 Draft by the Colonials. Brought up in the Virginia farm system before making his BLB debut in '83. Over 250 games in a Colonials' uniform. Traded to Baltimore in 1984.
Joe Sargentini (OF/DH) - A two time All-Star early in his career, Sargentini was part of two historic deals in Colonial lore. In spring of 1980, he was brought to town in the first major trade executed by the new Ownership group. He would play two seasons with the team before a now historic trade that sent him to Los Lunas at the age of 36 for current Colonial All-Stars Dale O'Hegarty and Josh Poling. After an uninspired year in LL, he returned to Virginia in '84 for one more season.
Rich Mathes (SP) - Drafted by California, but traded to Virginia before Spring Training of the league's relaunched 1978 season, Mathes would start 95 games in his Colonial career between '78 and '82. An injured rotator cuff in the spring of '83 derailed his career.
Matt Partin (C) - Spent his final big league season (1986) with the Colonials as a backup and utility player.
Isaam Ghaniy (SP) - Acquired from Wilmington in 1983. Pitched 41 games for the Colonials over parts of two seasons. Traded to Baltimore in 1984.
Tim Murcott (OF) - A waiver trade acquisition by the Colonials in 1983, Murcott would play 216 games in Virginia before being traded to Denver in May of '85.
Nic Arce (IF) - Considered one of the best players in the early years of the BLB. Virginia moved two quality prospects to Windy City to bring "Dinosaur" to town. 92 games later he was traded to Los Alamos for a 1st Round Pick.
