  • Technical Issues

Please post in this thread if you are experiencing any technical issues that prevent you from running the game or exporting normally.

Between not being able to run the game and FTP issues, does it make sense to push Friday's sim back and give people the weekend to sort out the technical issues?

I'm having the same problems I have had for two weeks. I can't get OOTP X or the demo to run. I have tried a bunch of different suggestions from the OOTP forums and others via PM.

I'm all for getting all owners up and running before leaving them in the dust. The issue is just giving them the weekend may not be enough. I know Pat's been trying to solve his issue for at least a week now.

There's a "sticky" thread directly related to Pat's issue on the OOTP Tech Support board (it was started in June) and none of the solutions in that thread have solved his issue so far. There are several other frustrated posters who appear to be having similar issues (with both Vista and Win 7, both 32 and 64 bit varieties), but it doesn't appear that any new solutions are being presented.

Ok. Installed the main program. Downloaded and installed the most recent patch. Tried to run the program... nothing. No error message. No program. No popup window. Ugh.

repost of my thread. any ideas? sounds like Pat has the same issues, but mine is with Windows 7 professional 64 bit version.

        System Specs:
        Windows 7 Professional 64 bit /w a clean install
AMD Phenom 9950 Quad Core 125W o/c to 2.9GHz on stock cooler
ASUS M3A78 Pro Motherboard, BIOS 1305 (most recent)
4GB OCZ Ram, running dual channel at 880 MHZ
On board video - ATI HD 3200
Programs HDD - WD Blue 320 GB

Ran Prime95 stress test overnight, and it's all stable. Max temp was 57C, running idle at 40C, currently at 45C with a few programs running.

I hate holding up the league, so as bad as it sounds, it feels really good that another owner is having problems as well. Sorry, Jai.

Errr... I went to the OOTP forums that was dedicated to the problems with Vista/Win7, read the first "fix" by right clicking the shortcut and running it as Administrator. It works now. Purchased and ready to go.

            Sorry Pat :(

Did OOTP X ever work for you guys or is this just since the patch?

Never tried before the patch. Now I'm getting the error that Clay had after the 1st sim... can't connect to FTP server. How'd you fix it?

                Also, where's the graphics file?

For those having any ftp issues, can you follow these steps:

                  Open the config/app file (<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/documentation/ootp10/index.php?page=game_configuration_files" target="_blank"><acronym title="Out of the Park Baseball">OOTP</acronym> Baseball Manual - Game Configuration Files)

Set the value for trace_mode to 1 to get some debug info written into the file <acronym title="Out of the Park Baseball">ootp</acronym>.log, and send me the file, please.

Start <acronym title="Out of the Park Baseball">OOTP</acronym>, open the preferences dialog and hit the CTRL+F8 key combination. You should then see the debug streams dialog. Click on “FTP Trace” and then on “Write to file”. Then close the dialog and hit “OK” to close the preferences dialog. Try to upload/download the league file again. This should create a folder “Debug” in your data folder with the file “FTP Trace.txt”. Please attach that file to a post.

This is the text from FTP Trace.txt file

FTP_CLIENT callback rate set to 300 ms

This is with the most current league file, correct?

In your config/app can you set ftp_passive_mode to 1. If the line doesn't exist, just add a new line in the same format as the other entries.

Also, try exporting with windows firewall disabled.
