Here in Detroit, there is always talk about the in famous trade that sent young Tiger prospect and local HS phenom John Smoltz to Atlanta for Doyle Alexander. While Alexander was great for the Tigers in their playoff run of '87, there's always been a lot of "what ifs" around the organization as Smoltz put together a Hall of Fame career.

So today's question....

If you could go back and undo one trade in your organizations history. which one would it be?

If you could go back and undo one trade in your organizations history. which one would it be?

No brainer for me.

Josh Poling, 1st Round pick and 3rd Round pick for Terry Drewitt.

Justin Chewning and a 1st and 3rd Round Pick for Don Stevens and Ottavio Ciocchi.

Not trading Goldmine for Soca in 1978. Thought we were going to make a run, then that fell apart shortly after that trade.

I'm pretty happy with most of my trades. I've given up good players but I needed to to get good ones back.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with all of the trades I made. There are definately some players playing on other teams successfully that would still fit in Virginia (Jim Fletcher, Larry Headington, Vern Branch) but every move I've made had a legitimate purpose at the time and I still think I've "won" more than I've "lost".

But, before my ownership, I think GIGGAS made a series of stupid deals early in the league's history. The one I'd take back if I could would have been his deal that sent Tim Nathan to B'More. Having Tim Nathan in his prime in this giant ballpark in Virginia would have helped immeasurably. I don't think I would have been good, but Nathan l would have been an Ace in what could have been a halfway decent 1-2-3 with O'Loughlin and Cafferty.

I don't know how someone could say Carolina over Windy City and possibly even Wilmington. I think in terms of success as a Franchise, it's Maine, Windy City.... then you start arguing about 3rd place.
