    He probably had a sacrifice.

      Interesting Outing of the Week

In Game 2 of our 3-game Sweep of Batavia... we took the win 4-1 in 14 innings with Reliever Artie Montgomery registering his first career win. Montgomery had a very interesting evening. He threw 3.0 innings facing the minimum 9 batters and putting them away in just 23 pitches! On top of that, because of some weary arms and a short bench from the night before, Montgomery took his at-bat in the Top of the 14th, stepping in with the basesload. With a 1-2 count and looking to hold the Colonials to just 1 that inning, MR Ken Bayer lost control of a fastball and put it right into the back of Montgomery walking in the 2nd run of the inning. Montgomery shook it off and returned for the bottom of the frame where he promptly closed out the game with a 4 pitch inning.
      The Great One!

      Too many rings to count.

3-3 sim. Pretty happy with the sim, given how poorly my dudes played. Thanks to Denver and Dallas for taking this sim off. This division is just nuts.

Would have been better if you could have been a little more patient with the new guy last night.

BTW - Llombart and Pardue are playing well in Indy in the small sample size.

            Lesson learned, father.

Yeah, pretty happy so far, especially with Pardue. With the impending loss of McCoy this offseason, Pardue may step into the closer role. Heres hoping we can re-up with McCoy.

Swept 3 from Dallas, but then lost 2 of 3 to freakin Sin City. Most runs scored in the league to this point, and finally have a respectable team ERA around 3.80. 5 games up on Maine with the 2nd best record in the BLB. Now to hold my breath....

I have really been streaky this season. I had a two game lead in the division 3 sims ago but I have now lost 5 consecutive series in a 4-13 stretch to fall 7 back and out of contention.

With 3 in Washington to start the next sim, it looks like I'm set to lose my sixth straight series. At least I can be confident that Pat won't make the silly mistake that Philly did and waste his two top starters in games against me. Philly got exactly what he deserved by squandering Aurillo and Nathan in games he figured to win easily anyway, then going out and losing 2 of 3 in his next series.

After Washington, I have 3 at home against Virginia. I think that my team has played better this season against the Colonials than any of the others. It may be payback time in Davenport during that series, but I feel like I have a chance to win two out of three in that spot and break the streak.

After this sim I get back both Vern Branch and #2 starter Jared Fields, who went down for 3 months after just 8 starts. I think that I need to ease off on the workload for my #1, Jerry Sizemore, as he has already pitched 147 innings and at 22, should probably be limited to around 180, so once Fields returns Sizemore will get skipped on occassion.

I'll get my minors trimmed down. I'm trying to catch up on news aroun he league right now too, lots of reading to do.

I should probably defer to your judgement, but I'm fairly comfortable with the decision. My offense managed to score 2 runs in the Tim Nathan victory. Had I started Gillespie or Yang I would have lost 2-3 rather than winning 2-3. I'll take the series win any day of the week. In addition I knew I was throwing Ben Irvin coming back from a long layoff and that he may not be sharp (he wasn't) and that may lead to a loss (it did).

In addition if you examine the WAS series I had a really good shot at winning 2-3 in that one too. I was able to star MacOwl, Minnoz and Nathan (we had a day off). The only suspect pitcher was Minnoz and he's been one of my hottest starters (he was also the SP in our only win). The bullpen blew the 1st game (with the help of shoddy defense) where MacOwl gave us more than enough to win.

So, if I got what I "deserved", so be it. I'm more than comfortable with the logic used to make the decision on who started and when. With that being said if you would like to take a look at my staff this week and offer advice once again perhaps I'll take heed (but then again I can be pretty obstinate).

I am always surprised when someone responds to something I write with a serious answer, when it seems to me that they couldn't possibly think that I was serious in what I wrote. Of course what you did was sensible.

I'm a big fan of sarcasm as a form of humor, but it doesn't always come through on these interwebs. I'll tweak my filters to see if I can get on the same wavelength.

Good luck. I've taken Riverman seriously on numerous occasions, only to find out he was only joshing around. Who knew???
