    Next sim: Tuesday

Trade deadline is Tuesday at 9pm ET.

    6-1 this time.

My pitching was lights out this sim. Three shutouts, I'll take that.

Tandy really helped out this sim. Really glad I made the move for him, so far.

    Tough break for Dallas though.

Our best sim this year, 7-0 including a 4 game sweep over the evil Davenport team. Got a 3 game lead, Kirby is having is best year of course in his free agent year.

        1-6

        vs. Davenport 1-2
        vs. Philly 0-4

        Bad

        - Why bother putting together a lineup, the computer doesn't use it anyway. Finbow is at 1st base computer GM...read the lineup. Therefore he should start, not pinch hit 5 times in 6 games.

        - Way to go Chet Stephens...another 6.75 ERA week. Have fun back in the minors my former #1 pick. And he took another ratings hit. From 8-7-8 to 4-4-5 in a year. Sigh...

        - Pat Gibson, RF for my AA team. Looking sharp buddy, you might actually develop into a hitter which my team needs. Oh...skull fracture...gone for 8 months...sweet.

        - Uchiyama...great trade there GM. Batting .201 on the year you have turned into a worthless piece of crap. Once next season rolls around I'm declining your '89 option and cutting your sorry ass. Actually can we do that now?

        Good

        - We have a lot of picks in next years draft.

        - The season is more than half over.

        - When I move in 2 weeks I won't really miss much since my team is a joke.

Any chance you have 7-day lineups on, but you're not really using them? Would be a good reason why your lineups never look like what you put in your depth charts.

I've been using 7 day lineups and it's probably user error. If I use auto-fill doesn't it just copy from the depth charts? I also have position subs on but I thought that was so if someone got tired they would sit out a game.

It's weird...I've noticed my changes seem to happen the following week sometimes.

Talk to Clay because there is a way to use 7-day lineups. It can be easy to mess up if used incorrectly. I stopped using it because I couldn't afford to figure it out. My lineups were always wrong.

I only mention Clay because I know he uses 7-day lineups and doesn't have the above issues.

Yeah, 7-days work if you use them correctly and don't have injuries.

Using them means committing to them though, if you leave the AI the opportunity to openly sub, than it kinda goes Freestyle.

I don't even mess with those things, tried it once, and it was a disaster.

I use them during spring training and when I am lucky I remember to turn them off once the season starts.

Sweep Pittsburgh, swept by Denver. 3-4 sim.

There is no need to talk about my sorry sacks of crap. Even though we're still fairly young, I'm beginning to think I need to scrap the whole thing and start over.

Denver, on the other hand, is the real deal. With Brode out I'd put money on Denver taking the Pilsner. If OOTP doesn't get in the way it could be awhile before they give it back up as well.

6-1 week for the Whalers, taking 2 or 3 from Mississippi, and then taking all 4 from Pawtucket. Hitting continues to be great this season, with the surprise Manny Rivera (Round 12 in '82) being an amazing leadoff hitter with .300 avg and .433 obp.

Currently 2 games up on Maine, but we play them 3 times this week in Maine, and are currently just 1-5 against them this season. Hopefully 4 games at home against Pitt after that will soothe any opened wounds.

                          California Kodiaks (57-41)

                          2-1 vs. Washington

                          2-2 @ Baltimore

                          The Good
                          - Starting pitching. 52.2 IP, 3 R.

                          - Román Magueu picked up 3 saves on the week.

                          - Owen Gilbertson hit .333 for the week. A miracle compared to the rest of the team.

                          The Bad
                          - Hitting. As in, we've completely stopped hitting. The bats have just died in July. Hopefully it's only a one month deal. For the sim, .178/.263/.299/.562

                          - Joe Negron had a bad week. Gave up six runs in 2 1/3 IP. He was due for a bad week. Still has a great 2.39 ERA on the year.

                          The Ugly
                          - Seven straight quality starts... only four wins.

Next Week: 3 vs. Philadelphia, 4 vs. Batavia

I notice that the losing team only scored 2 runs in Linty's 7 games and both of those were scored against relievers in the 9th inning. The starting pitchers for the winning team didn't allow a single run in the 7 games.

Did you know that this could be the first season the Pilsner features a team other than the division winner with a record at or above .500?

Good chance that three teams do it.
