  • 1987 Mid-Season Predictions -- What Now???

The beauty about the BLB is that the All-Star break comes just 1 game past the half-way point of the season... a pretty damn clost to perfect 50% sample size.

    So... with that....

Do we get our first 50 HR season? Two guys are on pace to do it.

Do we get a 150 RBI season? The BLB record is 149, but we have two on pace for 150

What teams are winning 100 games?

Anyone you see a big 2nd Half from? (I'll take Dani Alvarez)

    Anything?????

    50 HR season? No.

    150 RBI season? No.

Teams winning 100? Washington and possibly Maine.

Big 2nd half from? Dave Robbins (I kid). I'll say Alvarez, Gremades, Buzzell, Burgett, Parongao, Corrigan and Suarez.

      More questions....

      Who makes the Playoffs?

      Who wins it all?

What "big name" gets trade and where?

DL Playoffs = Maine, Mississippi, Dallas, WC-Hartford (but I think Denver will make it close)
IL Playoffs = Washington, Windy City, California, WC-Philly

        Dallas over Mississippi in four
        California over Washington in seven

        Dallas over California in five

        ---

        Big name to get traded....Buzzell...maybe California? Jon Cleary...maybe Washington?...Alonzo Gugierrez...Hartford? Denver?...Takanibu Sato...Virginia?

          I'm going....

Castro wins the DL HR Title with 46

Alvarez comes from behind to win the IL HR Title with 41 (Shannon still wins Stout Slugger)

I think Castro might slow down a bit...guy has been on too torrid of a pace... I say no more than 42, maybe only 40. I think Pat has the playoff teams right, although I do not enjoy his results. RBI totals...under 150.

I think the only way Shannon doesn't win is if he gets hurt.

I don't know. I think that players are subject to serious slumps in OOTP and Shannon is a good candidate for one. He's a big favorite right now of course but Padilla has a shot even without an injury to Shannon. Plus Padilla is already ensured of two votes - yours and Linty's - so that will help if it is close.

I just think MAP is going to get hurt. He is pretty injury prone.

Yea? Hmm, never paid attention to him.

I'll pass. Denver is not making any trades.

I'm surprised you don't remember him since he was in the DL for quite a while and went over to Wilmington in a deal that was controversial to say the least. Pat nearly had a kitten, after he heard about that deal.

To be fair, Diesel had a pussy way before that deal.
